How cold is too cold?

I hear that this weekend we are supposed to have some of the lowest temps we have had in a couple of years. MIL wants us to come over Sunday night. I'm hesitant to bring Abe out unless we absolutely must. I felt bad saying probably not because of the cold...because if it is that cold I would still bring him to school.

Re: How cold is too cold?

  • How far away is your MIL?  Are you walking?

  • No. She lives in the next town over. I just hate the thought of taking him out if it is -5 out.
  • I think it would be fine if you warm the car up ahead of time and bundle him up. Burr! Not looking forward to these temps!

  • As long as you're driving, I would bundle him up, start the car so it's warm when you bring him to it, and go for it.  You can bundle basically everything except his face, and when I take MJ out in the cold for a walk I lube him up with Aquaphor on his face to give him a layer of protection.

Really, it's up to you, certainly a fair reason to stay home, but probably don't need to change your weekend plans around it... that said, we'll be staying indoors most of the weekend :-)

  • You're suppose to say...NO! You can't go to MILs because it will be -5 and Abe should stay home with you in front of the fireplace while you eat cupcakes.
  • If you're driving, he'll only be outside the 30 seconds it takes to move him inbetween the house and the car.  I think it would be fine to take him out.

  • I wouldn't want to go out just me personally!! And the thought of bringing a baby out just for a visit isn't my idea of fun.... I think going to work and going to visit are different... its not like you have a choice to bring him to daycare if you have to work... but you can postpone a visit to MIL until it is a little warmer...

  • It's all about Abe, not MIL so stay home and make a nest!  :)
  • I also agree. Stay home because it will be -5 and eat cupcakes in front of the fireplace.  Mmmmmm Cupcakes.

haha, I like this! You'll bring him out in the cold when he has to go to daycare and you work but why bring him out in that cold if you don't have to! Stay home and be warm!

  • I have to agree with everyone else its going to be DAMN cold out there (weather man said anywhere from -5 to -20) so stay inside with your cupcakes where its warm!

  • You CAN NOT consider bringing him out in that weather! How dare you even think of it!! Your penance, is to stay home and have a fire and eat cupcakes ;)

  • Um...are you going to have hot chocolate with those cupcakes, or tea? There really ought to be a hot beverage involved for a truly cozy night in.
