Okay, so back in November I encouraged my mom to raise her prices on etsy by 10%. Everyone kept telling us that her prices were too low and honestly, for the amount of time it takes her to make them, I think they're still too low. Anyway, ever since November her sales have dipped dramatically and now I feel guilty. Will you look at her site and tell me what you think?

Can you think of any other reason(s) she's not selling as well? Thanks!
Re: can i get your opinions?
i think it is probably several factors-
time of year - i think of baskets as a more summer/fall thing more than christmas/winter
maybe doing more photos with stuff in the baskets? for someone who likes the basket but would be helped with seeing a possible use, that might be a good thing.
maybe doing a pre-easter sale?
HTH
The dip in sales with the price increase could just be a coincidence, people were done with their Holiday purchases, etc. I think the prices seem very reasonable for beautiful handmade baskets like that. I agree that maybe some pictures of stuff in the baskets, I know I am horrible at trying to judge sizes of things by pictures, if the basket had something in it I would be able to tell a little better what size it was and also get ideas for how to use the basket.
An easter sale is a good idea too!
I think Cheeky hit this perfectly. I don't think the prices have anythign to do with it - it's time a year.
Reading the reviews, it looks like people do a lot for weddings - so maybe incorporating that theme into a couple pictures to provide context. I also like the idea of putting some items in the basket in the photos for context.
I'm not 100% sure on how etsy searches work, but maybe adding more descriptive words into the description like gift baskets, wedding baskets, etc. that revolve around the purpose of the basket.
I'd imagine as it gets closer to easter (which I'd say she could throw in Easter basket as a descriptor too
) and into spring/summer, sales would pick up again based on her past clientele.
If she wants to do an easter sale, I think dolling a basket up as an easter basket and taking photos to that theme for a couple would go a long way. The photos are nice, but seeing them in use would help.
Time of year wise too - a lot of people are still paying bills from the holidays, waiting for tax returns, and waiting for nice weather and spring cleaning.
I love her Humpty doll...I might have to order a cow print one for Gianna.
Gosh, Amy, I still think her prices are more than reasonable! I agree with the others that it may be seasonal. I agree that having a photo of each basket in use would be a nice addition - I noticed a comment or two expressing surprise at the size, etc. and that might illustrate it nicely.
She does beautiful work and I added her to my favorite sellers. My mom loves baskets and I want to remember to get her one for Mothers' Day.
It took 5 failed IUIs and a failed IVF, but our FET worked!
My pregnancy after Infertility Blog
Our baby girl was born on April 27, 2011!
Congrats!
As a spinoff question - had anyone ever tried the infant potty training? Is it legit if you have the time to commit to it, or is it a total crock?
i totally agree with everyone! i really think pictures showing the uses of the baskets could help-flowers, storage, etc.). oooo you should put a tiny baby in one of them!
