wet/dry vac question

Does the wet/dry vacuum work like the rainbow vacuum.  Where dust will collect into a water tank?

Re: wet/dry vac question

  • Sorry, mainly a lurker, but coming out.

If you're talking a SHOP-Vac style, then no it doesn't. The wet part just means you can take the filter off, and use it to suck up water/spills. We bought one last summer when our basement flooded and we couldn't get it all cleaned up. BUT I have the filter so all we have to do is put it back on and can use it to suck up cobwebs and other junk.

Hope that helps. (FYI- I've ALWAYS hated that nastiness from the rainbow IMO)

  • Blaaaah I have a love/hate relationship with our wet/dry shopvac.  Our basement drain was clogged... which is where the water from the washing machine goes, and where the water from the basin should have gone when I was dying our curtains green this past fall.  We used it to suck up the water... but then we had to carry it upstairs to dump it outside (blech).  Eventually my husband turned it to "blow" and apparently fixed the drain... that's nice... except the whole shop vac smells AWFUL, and I can't take it outside to clean it until the snow is gone (which is still another three months out... I'm in Ohio).
