I don't know that there's a lot to say about this week other than thank goodness. And FOAM, still with the foam?
I think Fabio and Richard are adorable. I loved when Fabio said that he got 8 numbers. I'm sure he did.
Re: Top Chef
I love restaurant wars. Dale was so smart in making Marcel the other team captain.
I briefly thought, with how terrible the losing team was doing, that they were getting the "Surprise! You thought they all sucked but they're the winners!" edit and I was so glad I was wrong. I felt bad for Antonia and Tiffany.
What was up with picking Carla last? I know I have a soft spot for her, but how many challenges has she won? At least two.
Yeah, Dale's team choices were pretty smart. Selecting not necessarily the worst chef, but the most polarizing as the opposing team captain almost guaranteed a win. I thought it was interesting that he was basically cooking to send Marcel home since he had immunity.
Although it was always kind of a toss up with the diners choosing the winner. Not sure I like that, even though I assume they're given some guidelines. It seemed to work since the winner was obvious, but had it been closer, there might have been an unfair outcome.
I agree that Richard was rattled by last week when he was on the bottom with a dish he thought was decent. With 2 out of the 6 bottom peeps going home, he did cut it close last time. With team challenges, you shrink the elimination pool; even if someone on the winning team had the official worst dish, they can't lose. So if you have the second worst dish in the competition, or bad service that killed the meal (which even though Fabio is totally smooth, he really wouldn't know how that part went firsthand), you could end up on the bottom.
I'm a little sad we don't get any more Marcel thuggin' out. Mad propz to the Foamie Homie!
And the Black Hammer's streak continues...

I've wondered about drugs and Marcel before. I've also wondered if he is ADHD.
I said the same thing when we were watching last night. I wonder if it's her occasional loopiness, or if the other chefs think she's inconsistent or something.
My husband was annoyed by several of the diners in this episode. He thought they sounded like wannabe food critics.
I scoffed at the one diner who said "I've never had pork belly before."
I'm so glad Marcel is gone. He's a horrible combination of irritating and insecure.
I think it seems pretty much like bacon or pork fat, too. I don't hate it, but I don't think it's some magical protein, either. Fat tastes good, and you cooked it and managed to not fukc it up and make it disgusting. Congratulations?

I just caught up on my DVR. I am so glad Marcel is gone. I thought it was a pretty genius move on Dale's part to make him the other restaurant leader. It pretty much guaranteed a clusterfvck for that team.
Richard's pessimism doesn't bother me much because I felt like he was a little over-confident his season. It's refreshing to see him a little more humble. Now, if he keeps it up for too many more episodes, I might find it annoying.
I'm also enjoying Dale a lot more. I think the anger management classes have even made him a better chef. He seem to be doing better - maybe because he can focus on the food instead of flipping out on people?
Trey has the most adorable smile.
Anthony Bourdain saying about the losing team that even a prison break is more organized could have been one of my favorite judges' comments ever.
Yeah, but I think that's the only time all season we've seen him flip. There have been a few times where Dale has behaved much better than I think he would have in the past (Marcel's drunken rap at him, for example).
Yes he does.
I had a much greater appreciation for the quickfire challenge having read Bourdain's latest book. My husband is currently reading it, and I've forbid him from watching this week's episode until he's read about Justo.

TEAM MARCEL
(But really, even my super soft spot for the guy was firming up FAST).
I'm really enjoying Dale and Richard now. And as always, Carla. I'm with you, noisy. She's way unappreciated.
The nerve!

Oh no, Fabio's is turrible while Seba is just occasionally hilarious. But I don't speak a second language as well as he speaks English, so I don't dare scoff at his grammar.
ETA: lol @ Angelo ?Tied-Pants? Sosa
