NOTD... Brie&Steve?

Is Brie around today? I checked the schedule and she is supposed to be NOTD unless she switched with some one...

Here are some questions to get her started Smile

How is your craft room coming along?

Have any new stamps come out that you are really excited about?

What is your favorite thing to bake and why?

  • Hello ladies. This is the first time I'm checking in this week...I'm glad that I did.  I'm around all afternoon for questions.

How is your craft room coming along? Eh, it's coming along.  I'm a bit frustrated right now because the floating shelves Steve and I built are really twisted and I don't think we can fix them. Steve wants me to just deal and I'm not thrilled about the prospect of spending $90 to correct the problem (shelves from Ikea - we would have go there first but they were sold out for months when we started this thing), but it's really going to bother me.  I can see it becoming a fight because I need Steve's help to put them up.

Here is a picture in it's current state:

Other than that, I'm having a dilemma trying to find boxes/bins that fit on the shelves for me to store stuff in.  I can only find 2 or 3 white ones that will work, but since we're keeping the shelves white, I really wanted to use yellow and blue as contrasting accent colors. Plus I'm kind of tired of spending money on this room...I want to move on to buying some furniture we are in desperate need of.

Have any new stamps come out that you are really excited about? Good timing...there was a new mini catalog that just came out through the company I buy from.  This is my favorite set from it and I have a lot of ideas of things to do with it.  It even has coordinating fabric that they've started selling.

What is your favorite thing to bake and why? I really like simple things like a crumble that I don't have to spend hours on.  It's very satisfying to enjoy something and I think the more simple the more you just get to taste the ingredients for what they are.  However, some of the more complicated things actual calm me because I can block a lot of other stuff out of my head when I'm in the kitchen.

Hi Brie!  Miss you around here!

Do you have any vacations planned this year? Nothing planned at the moment.  I was thinking of taking a trip to the Midwest this spring, maybe around March Wink, but I'm still undecided.  There wouldn't need to be a lot of arm twisting to go to Maine either.

When we were planning England, our next vacation was going to be Italy because I said I wanted to go to Italy before we had kids, but since kids are being pushed off yet again, who knows what will be next.  We've been on track to do an international trip every 2-3 years, so we're saving for our next one right now.  Maybe next year.  Although, if a trip for Steve's work comes up, that might change our plans.

  • You're always welcome to come to Maine! :)  I still need to figure out if Pat will be headed to MD in May also.  Definitely keep you posted.

  • What is your dream job?

What is your favorite tv show?

    Winter or Summer?

What is your dream job? There has been a lot of contemplation on this lately.  I don't think I'm physically capable of working/opening/running a bakery/cake decorating business because of my back.  My current dream job would be to make enough to help out with my Stampin' Up! income (which is really nothing now) and stay home with kids (if that ever happens).

What is your favorite tv show? Top Gear, the UK version, and/or Bathtastic (HGTV)

    Winter or Summer?  Winter.

Yeah, definitely let me know.  I'll keep you posted if I decide to take a long weekend up there.  I could really use a long weekend away from here.

  • What is your favorite movie? Besides family what do you miss most about WI? What do you like best about MD? If you where given $1000 right now, what would you do with it? Fave icecream (or frozen custard) flavor? Least favorite foods? Sorry about format, posting from phone.
  • On my phone sorry no paragraphs: 1. How are your kitties adjusting after losing their brother? 2. I love the paint colors in your craft room, have you painted any other rooms recently? 3. What is one thing you'd buy if you could splurge on one thing with no ramifications?

What is your favorite movie? The American President or Muppet's Christmas Carol.

Besides family what do you miss most about WI? Snow, and people semi-competent driving in it.

What do you like best about MD? Not much right about now...I'm really itching to get out of here, but it will only happen if Steve PCS's (we're waiting for a position in England to open up, supposedly).

If you where given $1000 right now, what would you do with it?Probably buy furniture or put it towards the bathroom remodel that we want to do this year.

Fave icecream (or frozen custard) flavor?Vanilla, but it has to be good vanilla. But now you're making me crave LeDucs.

Least favorite foods?I'm really not into Thai and middle-eastern cuisine, but apparently my husband is, but he won't eat orange food (aka pumpkin, sweet potato)

Sorry about format, posting from phone.

On my phone sorry no paragraphs:

    1. How are your kitties adjusting after losing their brother?Scooter is a girl (gotta love my sister naming hers - she would always call Scooter a boy and Haloti a girl).  They're doing okay...they're actually probably forgotten about her.  If they remember at all, it's more like there's more room in between mom's feet in the bed at night so we can spread out.  They were really subdued the first couple days, but they were like that when each kitty left.  I think they were worried they were next.  Now they're getting back into trouble.

    2. I love the paint colors in your craft room, have you painted any other rooms recently? We are still in the process of painting the basement.  It went from white to a light beige color with grey in it.  We stopped because of the holidays and have a little nook left to finish, plus the trim work.  But since it's been cold, we're going to wait a bit so we can open the windows.  We'll then pull in blue and yellow accents in from the craft room because it's open to the rest of the basement.

We'll also be painting the 2 spare bedrooms, the master bathroom when we renovate, and the master bedroom closet as well.

    3. What is one thing you'd buy if you could splurge on one thing with no ramifications? I really could use a spa day with a massage, manicure, and some full body salt scrub/mud bath.
