Since no one has used the mystery identity, I'll be the first to go. One of my FB feeds sparked this little rant. I can't stand people who are on WIC or food stamps and don't need to be. For example, if you can buy new Mac computers and living room furniture, you don't need to be on state aide. I can totally understand if you've lost your job and can't make it and are actually trying to find a job. And if you can't comfortably afford the kids that you do have, quit popping out new ones!
/rant.

i completely agree and i'll probably get flamed for this but i feel the same way about insurance. being in that line of work, i will never understand why people feel the need to tell you all about their amazing purchases but then cry about having to pay for medical services because they can't afford insurance.
to make it clear: i understand not being able to afford insurance. i don't understand the extreme, non-essential purchases and not being able to afford insurance.

I haaaaaaate that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In the Detroit area the welfare programs are severly abused it angers me to no end.
MIL brought on my recent rage against people who abuse the disability programs, selfishly I am not as angry as I should be though because this means she will not be coming to us for money.
I am all for the assistance of the people that struggle, try their hardest and just cannot make ends meet. I know several of them too. They only bought new items (like furniture, tvs, stereos, etc) when they were absolutely needed.
I agree completely! I sell insurance, and I have people tell me they can't afford it, then they grab their designer purses and walk out the door. My SIL and BIL say they can't afford insurance to cover their kids, then they buy them dirt bikes. WTF?
Good use of the mystery AE!
I agree that the system is broken and that is half the problem

Nah. I'm saving my AE post for a really FUN topic! lol
Yikes! I never responded either. I agree with you all: insurance is part of the problem. I know it's not 100% related, but I did see something on my local news the other day about how people who use food stamps are going to have to submit to regular drug testing. I am very much in favor of that.
