Is Roomba worth the money?
If so where did you buy yours and how much was it?

Re: Is Roomba worth the money?
It sooo is if you're as lazy as I am. I just got one for xmas and I use it (AND clean it out!) basically everyday. We have mostly carpet with some tile, so I just pick any clutter up off the floor and lock it in a room. I think it will be very useful for keeping the dust and daily hair shed from getting stomped down into the carpet.
It does make a schizo pattern on the carpet though, and it doesn't pick up everything (neither does my heavy vac) and would get stuck if the floor had papers or clothes all over it, but it's not like you could use a regular vacuum without picking up the room anyway.
Sorry I can't get you the price on it, it was a gift. The number $275 sticks in my head though, so I would say it's in the $200-300 range.
It definitely is for us. We run it every day to stay on top of the mess the cats make. MIL gave it to us as a Christmas gift a couple years ago...IIRC, she got it on Kohl's on Black Friday for a super deal.
However, if we were purchasing one now, we would be interested in reading more about the Neato. It uses a more sophisticated algorithm for getting a room done, and seems to have good reviews, although I haven't researched it extensively.
My DH and I got one for our wedding and we ended up selling it. We used it a couple of times and it would just bump into things, it couldnt fit into small corners/in between furniture/etc... And it wouldnt pick up everything either. Also, it took it hours to go over an entire room.... it would just keep jumping all over the place. Plus our dog went nuts!
I would rather vacuum myself for 30 minutes and be done with it. Just my opinion.
We got rid of ours. FI sort of liked it because he could claim he cleaned, but I hated it. We have two Pugs and it would fill up after go over 1/2 a room. And if you have carpets - no way! It would work fine if you had hardwood floors, not kids or pets and a small living area. Otherwise totally not worth the money.
As PP said, I can vacuum our whole house in about 30-40 minutes and know I got into every corner, whereas Roomba could be on all day (not that the battery would last that long) and never be finished.
Plus ours broke and it took the company over 2 months to fix it and send it back.
Ours was around $350 at BBB, be we were able to use a 20% off coupon. We have a dog that sheds like crazy and I wish we had gotten the pet one, but this one does a good job (I think it is the 560). I set it to run when we are not home three times a week. It does 4 rooms (although I don't think it hits all four each day) that are a mixture of hardwood and large area rugs. My only complaint is: it gets stuck under some furniture (my husband has taken to making blockades before he leaves for work) and sometimes on floor heat vents. Sometimes the battery will run out while it tries to get itself unstuck.
We haven't vacuumed the downstairs area it cleans since we got it. Occasionally there is a small pile of dog hair in the corner where it can't reach and I just pick that up.
We've only had it for three months, so I can't judge if it is worth the money until I see how long it lasts. If we get several years use out of it I would say it is worth it. Also my dog doesn't love it (sometimes it "sneaks up" behind her) but for the most part she deals by hiding upstairs when it is on.
