Rent question

I'm looking to move back to Central PA asap. I haven't been back for a few years so I was wondering what rent prices are like for a two bedroom in a decent area near (within an hours drive) to Harrisburg? TIA.

Re: Rent question

  • I think it depends on what your looking for - a house or an apartment.  In York at the end of my block, there was a single family home for rent for $850/month but I don't think that included anything (like heat). And it was a 2 bedroom cape cod/bungalow with not much property.  Sorry I'm not much help - but good luck with your search!

  • We lived in Rockledge Townhomes in Mechanicsburg for several years before we bought our house.  I think it was about $950/mo for a 2bd/1.5ba two story and didn't include anything.  They took pets though and that's what we really needed.
  • youre going to have a lot of variety in prices within an hour of harrisburg. i also agree that it greatly depends if you want to rent an apartment, a townhouse, or a single family home.

my college roommate rents a 2BR/1BA single family home in downtown harrisburg for $550 a month with heat and water included. but outside of harrisburg in linglestown there is a 2 BR/2BA TH in my development for rent with no utilities for $1200/month.

it just depends what you want and where specifically you look.

  • As pp said, rent really varies from place to place. From what Ive seen a 2 bedroom ranges between $500 and $1200 depending on the community, size and what is included. Its probably best if you can narrow your search a little related to both location and preferences (amenities/house or apt etc) and then check out craigslist. I just moved back to Central PA from Delaware County so I know where youre coming from!
