  • I just started Room, and I'll recommend it based on the first two chapters.  It's awesome.

  • If you want to read a similar plot to HG, you could try Battle Royale. It's on my list, but I don't want to read it too soon since I try to spread out my dystopian future books.

  • I just started reading Level 26: Dark Origins, which is written by the creator of CSI.  It's sort of a different reading experience that is interactive (certain chapters have mini movies that you don't have to see, but go along with the book.  You can then put in the codes ot the website and it'll take you through different "cyber bridges"--These cinematic Cyber-bridges take the experience to the next level, immersing you in the action and putting you inside the twisted mind of a serial killer) .  This is the explanation from the website:

This website is an interactive extension of the book series "Level 26," from Anthony E. Zuiker, the creator of CSI. Level 26.com and the Level 26 books combine to form a "digi-novel," a multi-platform experience that moves the reader from passages in the books to videos and interactive content right here on the Level 26 website.

The first installment in the series, "Level 26: Dark Origins" tells the story of Steve Dark, a former FBI agent pulled out of retirement to hunt down a serial killer unlike anything the world has seen before.

Now that you have joined the site, you can engage with Anthony and other members of the site.

As you read the book, you'll see calls-to-action that direct you to this website to enter codes that unlock Cyber-bridges. These cinematic Cyber-bridges take the experience to the next level, immersing you in the action and putting you inside the minds of a twisted serial killer and the man sent to take him down.

It's interesting and a little bit different.  The book moves pretty quickly and I haven't been able to put it down.

I second SB and loved this book.  Though at times it did make me feel weird, if that makes any sense.  Hm, I think squicky is a better word.  Copyright ML.

  • Fallin - I'm just reading things that are easier reads right now, since I do most of it in spurts - walking to/from my car at work, pumping, nursing Evie. I kept trying to read Daughters of Juarez but apparently non-fiction is too much for me right now. I kept losing my place and forgetting what had been said last time I read. So, lighter fiction. I was working my way through Madame Bovary for awhile, but I gave up on that for the time being as well. My brain did not accept it.

  • If you like mysteries at all, I always recommend the JD Robb In Death series.  I'm currently enjoying the Dennis Lehane Kenzie and Gennaro detective series.

  • I read a book of short stories by Lehane (Coronado) which I really liked. Maybe I'll give one of those a try.

I also want to read Room, I'm glad to see others like it so far!

I'm reading Welcome to My World- Johnny Weir
  • Room is awesome.  I definitely recommend it. I just finished reading Pillars of the Earth (Ken Follett), which has been around for a while, so you might have already read it, but if not, it's fantastic.
