moving has meant that i need to shop at a different grocery store. it's much larger than the one i went to before, but it's a more popular chain store so i thought their prices would be cheaper... but i'm consistently spending $30-$40 more PER WEEK than usual. i have no idea why... yes, we've had to restock some items. i don't think the prices are that much higher. i think because i have more choices, i'm buying more things?! i told DH he needs to go with me from now to curb my spending, lol! i also end up having to circle back one or more times bc i don't know where everything is yet. i also can't lift some of the bigger stuff we'd buy and i have a hard time getting things out of the very bottom/back of the grocery cart when i get up to the cashier bc my belly gets in the way.
seriously, grocery shopping has been so stressful lately and it shouldn't be!

Re: grocery store vent
Maybe YH can do the grocery shopping the last few weeks of pregnancy for you?
Do you make a grocery list before you go...and stick to it?
Wow! That last 3-4 weeks? Do you guys eat out a lot? You will need to share your grocery list with us.
That;s what I was thinking. I feel like 115 maaaaybe will last us 2 weeks. Maybe.
This is typically what we spend for 2 weeks. I'm in awe! Do you have to go back for staples like bread and milk?
I make DH go with me. He is the cart pusher/heavy item lifter/grocery bag bringer-in-er. I don't care if he likes it or not, he's going with me.
The Sand in My Snow Boots
Same here! Although we probably spend even more - like $400-450/month.
i do make a list... based on things we need, then i always look at the weekly circular online too, and do save money w/ the bonus card. that's always nice. i don't really do the coupon thing though.
sigh, i love wegmans, but there aren't any near us
(they are by my parents' though)
yes, kate, we need your grocery list please!
Chin up, groceries have gone up 15 - 30% since September, based on what my local grocery manager has told me. Bad crops have caused it, and I suspect they'll go up even more as gas prices head upwards this summer. We've been trying to cut back but it's nearly impossible with three adult sized appetites in the house, so we're doing other things, like casseroles where we can stretch more expensive ingredients, and not going out to eat.
Our average weekly bill is $150 ... and it's been as high as $210 (back at the holidays).
