Re: FFC Friday?

  • I am so glad it is snowing today because I am still in my PJs and my new boss is awesome about letting me work from home.

I let my direct-reports work from home too. hopefully they don't take advantage, but I think it is nice to not have to kill yourself to get in if you can do 99% of your job from home.

could his mom be a cougar??!

  • Oh thank you for this!!!!

FFC 1: My MIL is having "brithday party" for her mom, sister and myself tomorrow. She has been planning it for over a month and I just found out about it last week. DH thinks there are going to be a ton of people there. I asked this morning who was coming and it is just us and the above people. Also DH said she was going to be inviting my parents and she never called them. Then they expect us there all day Sunday too because we don't see J's gram much. I don't want to go. I want a day with my family. That is my time. The only time I get with them. I'm not spending it with someone I'm mad at... which brings me to...

FFC 2: I'm now worried about MIL watching B. Last Friday when I picked her up there was an accident and B and FIL almost fell into a wall/the ground. I caught them and everything was fine except my nail gave B a pretty good scratch on her cheek. She cried. Within 5 minutes she was fine happy and smiling. MIL onthe other hand screamed and ran crying from the room absolutely panicing. She actually said and I quote "If something happens to this baby I don't want to live. I won't be able to live." 15 minutes later after everything was calmed down (except her) she had a mini wave of panic again and had to sit down because she was dizzy. How am I supposed to feel if this is the way she handles a scratch? What if she falls down the stairs as a toddler? Is MIL just going to let her sit at the bottom of the stairs crying while she panics in the other room? DH doesn't understand why this worries me because he can "guarantee" that won't happen. He wasn't there. He didn't see what I saw. And then Monday when I got to their house to drop off B FIL told me MIL wasn't able to watch her that day and didn't J tell me? Obviously not if I'm standing in your driveway! Maybe she should have told me since I'm the one that drops her off and picks her up. Then when I dropped off B on Wednesday she didn't say a word about either event. But did to DH. Hello! Please talk to me too. I'm the mother. UGHHHHH!!!!!!

Possibly, but this guy was a senior when I was a freshman, so he's somewhere around 36 or so...which puts him 18 years older than my student.  So there may not be a huge age difference between him and his wife (if at all)

  • I could use this too!

#1: I'm kind of irked at my boss (well, the boss boss, our CEO, not my direct boss). I've been super sick the last few months, and have finally figured out it's migraines that were just strung together with major symptoms. So, needless to say, I've been to a ton of doctor appoitments. In December, they took me off salary and put me on hourly wage as I'd used all my sick days. Well, since that time I've been able to maintain almost full time hours (about 3/4 time), missing 2 days in one month (as compared to about 10 in November/December!). Last week I was in every day for 7-7.5 hrs each day. I was sick on Monday, and then in on Tuesday this week for 8.5 hrs. Then Wednesday, I had a dentist appointment and a bank appointment and came in at noon. She says to me, "maybe we need to have another chat about your hours. We need you here more." Um, excuse me, but haven't I been here? I missed ONE day! Seriously! So, that led me to cancel my gyno appointment yesterday, cancel my lunch date with DH for his birthday yesterday, and cancel my lunch with my friend today, just so I didn't piss her off. I now have to wait 3 weeks to see the gyno, DH didn't get to see me for more than 2 hrs on his bday, and my friend doesn't have another free day for 2 weeks. Ugh. All this, and then SHE left at 2pm the last two days and isn't even here today! WTF.

#2: I'm sad that I didn't get to do anything special for DH's birthday, but he doesn't seem to care. I don't think his family is really "into" birthdays. His sisters and his dad didn't even call him, but yet my mom, sister and grandma did! It makes me wonder if he'll be into doing things for our kids when we have them!

  • Mine is silly, but I need to get it out:

I cannot find the right shade of lavander to paint my baby girl's room. So far, I am now on sample number five, and nothing on our wall looks like it does on the swatch. I am so frustrated! I realize that it's not a huge deal and that we have so much time, but I am sick of spending $ on these paint can samples! Ugh. I am making myself take a break from it this weekend, and then trying again in a week. Of course, Matt doesn't really understand. He thinks 'they all look the same'. Sigh...

  • When Brian was gone this week, I went through his drawers and closet and donated some of his clothes. He has had t-shirts since college and still refuses to donate they yet does not like wearing them. Huh?

  • If another mother of a 22,23,25,32 year old calls me, ever... they are going to hear what I really think. Seriously, they are probably taking their kids test and doing their homework too... You can't hold their hand forever. Besides, for the 10th time, I cannot talk to you or give you any personal information. I don't care that you "birthed" him, hes an adult now....

I'm gonna have to plug DH's company for a minute here....he works for a very large paint company based out of Cleveland (I know you know it.....) I promise if you find the "right" color of lavendar, even in a magazine, they can color match.  They also have all sorts of different color decks, go in the store, and ask for every single lavendar they have.

  • My so-called BFF from childhood is horrible at returning calls, texts, emails, etc....I'm tired of her sucking.

So I called her out on it and now we're in an email fight.

    Ha, I'm 15 today.

  • I would rather spend Sunday doing absolutely nothing (laying on the couch, reading) than going to the baby shower i have to go to on Sunday. The Mamma to be is a good friend, and of course I'm going, but I don't have an ounce of excitement about the shower.

Lavender is tough. When I was little I picked a really pretty lilac for my walls. Well when all was said and done my room was this awful bright pink/purple, totally different than the swatch.

  • Mine's kinda silly but:

My Christmas tree/decorations are still up. We'll likely take them down this weekend...maybe.

  • I bought a bag of candy coming into work today. It is huge. It is half gone. I might chuck it. Also, I am sad my new job doesn't have the flexibility or the fun people i used to work wih. So quiet here. I am sad I can't work from home on snow days or set my hours, but it is nice to see Chris every night. Lastly, I really really hope our house sells fast so we can get a new one before babies come because I really want a nursery.
  • 1.  I really hate the expression and when people say/type "FML" either on TN and TB or on FB over stupid things when in reality their lives could be so much worse.  Seriously, is it really THAT bad or are you just having a bad moment in the large scheme of things?!

    2. The small(er) party I had envisioned at home for Mariela's 1st birthday isn't going to happen because DH wants to invite his extended family "just this year, because it's her 1st birthday, Hon.".  I get that it's her 1st birthday, but she won't remember it...it's for us more than anything else and I just don't see the point of spending a ton on food and supplies.  We could easily cut our guest list and just have around 25 people, but he doesn't want to, so instead we'll be having closer to 60 if everyone we invite comes.  At least I like planning these sorts of things, I just hate spending the money when I really want to save and pay down debt more so that I can cut my hours by another day sooner rather than later.

  • Our fridge (which is only 3 years old) decided to stop working today. I had to pull everything out, put it in bags, and drive to my moms to use her fridge. We finally found a repair man that could come out today and he said he will be here in between 12 and 2. Well it's 2:05 and he isn't here yet. So annoyed!

My BIL's girlfriend drives me nuts. She lives with IL's (moved in one piece at a time) eats their food, uses their water, etc. She is always whining she has no money, school is so hard, and has such a tough life. She is 21, going to school for early childhood (not knocking on that major or anything but its not rocket science), and lives in a place with free rent! I am sick of  hearing about her pity parties.

  • I have another one..

I'm tired of my teacher friends cheering for a snow day, and then complaining in June when they have to work extra days. I would love to have summers off and work 190ish (including development days) a year. I'm not saying it's an easy job or anything close to that, but there are some perks to working in education

  • I'm irritated by tax season already.

One of my properties has 360 units. Our management company sent us our Cert.s of Rent Paid (CRPs) a few days ago...completely out of order. I finally got them separated out by each building, current, and moved-out residents. Keep in mind many of those residents are getting two CRPs as our property switched management companies half way through the year. After all that work, we realized the dates for the current company are all wrong.

We finally got the corrected CRPs in today and started working on sorting by building, then apartment, then current and non-current, copying, sorting into piles delivery method or file piles, etc. The problem is, I'm the key organizer of this little project and I'm working on it with my two managers. It's too confusing to try to explain to the other girls who work between now and Monday when I come back, so I told them to just leave it all for when I get there, since I know exactly what needs to be copied, what needs to be filed, what needs to go out, blah blah blah. I don't mind, but I really wish that our company wouldn't have screwed it up in the first place!! We could be done by now. Not to mention we still have to look up forwarding addresses for everybody who moved out before the new company (that put the forwarding addresses on the CRPs) took over in May.

There are about 1,700 CRPs :-/

  • I entered to win a double electric breast pump in a sweeps on the bump. I have said for months that I would only pump until Maddy was one but I really want to keep giving her breastmilk plus it is helping me keep weight off.I am sick of the hospital grade rental and don't want to drop $300 at this point so if I don't win it I don't know if I will keep pumping beyond usuing the manual pump but I will make it a year unless my supply dries up. After that the rental goes buh bye.
