What do you call "facial tissue"?

I've always called tissues Kleenex.  Even Puffs brand are Kleenex to me.

You?

  • Both, but growing up in the south we tended to call things by brand names, like all soda is Coke, even if its a Pepsi, Dr. Pepper, etc and all tissue are Kleenex.

    Weird, I know.

LMAO  Not weird to me at all.  Kleenex, Coke, Crockpot, etc.  All of those are words I use every day.

It's so bad that at work I even use "InFocus" to refer to all digital projectors now.  lol

  • Hs always been Kleenex to me and soda (shudder) is pop, slowcooker is crockpot. I had a friend that grew up in Wisconsin and she called the drinking fountain a "bubbler." Strange.

  • Usually tissue, but sometimes Kleenex.

I sometimes will use the words "soda" or "sneakers" when I am teaching and my kids think I am talking funny (usually it is pop and tennis shoes).  My aunt (grew up near where I live, but has lived near Boston for 40 years) asked me once if I wanted a "tonic" (I was like 15) and I asked if I was allowed to have that, I had no idea tonic was soda/pop I thought she was offering me an adult beverage.

  • We just call a tissue a tissue, and pretty often one of us thinks we're so funny and says, "Can I have a tissue, I have an issue" lol

I know Ashlee! I went to school in Milwaukee and it seriously took me the first month to figure out what the heck people were referring too.

It also seems that there (WI) it's common to call ATMs "Tyme Machines" b/c that's a common manufacturer's name.

  • It's always been Kleenex for me.

  • Tissue, although Zach's been making fun of me lately. Because of my sinus infection, it sounds more like "Ey, babe - cand you hand me a tijjue?" I hate being sick.
  • It's always been Kleenex to me - yep, the marketing worked on me :)
