another snow day... another two day work week...

I love teaching, but I would like to actually have the opportunity to see my kids every now and then...

Dear mother nature, please stop dropping all of this snow on our area. We have enjoyed the beauty of the snow, now let's move on!

Thanks,

Re: another snow day... another two day work week...

  • Does this mean you work more days in June to make up for it?

What grade do you teach? What do you teach?

  • This does mean that they will tag on days at the end of the year, but I have signed a contract to teach at a conference at the end of June, so I don't know what is going to happen.

    I teach K-5 general music.

  • yea.....still shaking and cant breathe from the post drive to work panic attack :(  I hate my job :( blessed that I have one....but not that its not in education like I spent the last 8 years working for :(

When I was a kid I used to wish I could take music lessons.  I went to Catholic school though and we didn't have the money to pay extra for them.  I was so jealous of the kids with their recorders Smile

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • Rock: Those recorders might be the death of me... at least my third graders! By the time they are in fourth they can actually play, but having 26, beginning third grade recorder players tooting at the same time... Kind of makes me wish I had decided to be a librarian. ; )

    LOL!

And I'm still waiting for the "Ginger" story, by the way.

  • I am so over the snow.  I'm also really dreading the freezing temps this weekend Sad
  • I feel the same way! I teach fourth grade, and I appreciate a snow day as much as the next teacher, but all I want right now is to be able to teach and maintain a routine. I am also on page with you about the recorders, I simultaneously cringe and hide a giggle every year when they come out for the memorial day ceremony :-)

  • 3rd snow day in 2 weeks.  I loved the snow days last week and I LOVE being able to stay home with Lil but I do NOT want to be in school until July.

  • I'm a teacher, too.  I was supposed to start my new teaching job on Tuesday, but there was a snow day.  I went in Wednesday and yesterday and now have a snow day today.  Blah.

  • Ok. Rock.. so here is the silly Ginger story... (I was in a hurry the other day so I did not bother telling it.)

SO and I enjoy watching RuPaul's Drag Race... it's one of our guilty pleasures.

It may have been during the first season when SO and I were walking down Charles Street in Beacon Hill. There was a large ad. for Domaine de Canton Ginger Liqueur. I read the sign, and commented that Ginger Liqueur sounding interesting... SO commented that it just sounded like a drag name. SO and I love Kirsty MacColl's music and so Ginger Le Coeur became my "drag name."

When my sister insisted that I join the nest, I chose to use Ginger as my name because I thought it was fun.

  • Nice, Ginger!  Thanks for sharing :)  I like your taste in drag names, I must say.

  • I love drag shows!

SIL made a documentary about an all-female drag troup in Boston, and since they were filming for 3-4 years, I used to always go to their shows. And when I worked for Estee Lauder, I used to sell Miss Kitty Litter of Providence her makeup!
