Anyone else approaching or recently turn 30?
I am honestly looking forward to 30. I read somewhere recently that with people marrying and procreating later in life that 30 is like the new 21. A passage into real adulthood.
Now to figure out how I want to celebrate!
What are you going to do? Or what did you do to celebrate?

30 is sooo 10 years ago...ugh!
30s were great! 40s I've been sick so far, so so far they suck!!
I'm 33 and loving my 30s so far! Way better than my 20s...
I was nervous that I'd be really depressed when I turned 30, so I planned a weekend getaway for my husband and I. Just a little B&B getaway in Redwing, but we had such a nice time... Turning 30 didn't end up freaking me out at all, but it was nice to have fun plans in place to distract me.

I turned 27 in November. 27 kind of freaked me out too. It really made 30 seem a whole ton closer than it had previously been...
I feel pretty close to the same way. I am excited for my 30's. I have done a ton of self-help book reading and have really been learning about myself and life for the past 10 years. I like the enjoying the moment idea, but am at the same time really excited about long term planning too. I think there can be a balance between enjoying the moment and looking ahead to the next thing. Someday I will be 40, 50, 60 etc and there are a lot of things I want to do and accomplish. There are places I want to go, a family I want to start, books I want to read, books I want to write and a business I am starting. Bring on my 30's!
I turned 30 in July, and so far it has been great! Sometimes I still can't believe I'm 30, but it's just because of the number. I love getting older, I think people get better with age! I have enjoyed every stage of my life, but I feel like the older I get, the better it gets. I loved high school, but I would never want to go back to that time. Same with college/my early 20's.
When my mom was 30 she had 5 kids from the ages of 2-10! I'd be in the loony bin!

I'll be 30 in July. I haven't decided what to think about it yet. I'm pleased with what I've accomplished as far as family and school goes. However I'm not pleased with where we are financially. And that I'm not in my "forever" house yet. And I still don't know what I want to do for work/career yet even though I work full time at a decent job.
I love birthdays and I always make a big deal about them in my house so I'm very curious to see what (or if) DH does anything for mine this year. My b-day is on a Friday this year and DH will be gone the Friday-Sunday of my b-day for guards. Not very happy about that.
I'm 34 ... so my 30th isn't even recent anymore :-)
Honestly, my 30s are way better than my 20s.
I didn't do a big party or anything for my 30th ... just a little dinner party with friends.

Hi All,
I am usually just a lurker on this board and some other nestie boards, but just wanted to say thanks to those who had such positive replies on this subject. I am 28 and my husband just turned 30 and I think, geez we are really getting old. But that is not the case at all! We are just getting a little life experience under our belts which can make for an easier time with things, I really need to stop dismissing myself as expired and quit thinking that this is as good as its going to get. My last couple years of my 20's and my 30's are going to rock!!
Thanks Gals!
That is awesome about your debt! We're on our way, rolling our snowball...Hopefully by early summer here we should be done as long as Murphy doesn't visit too much. As soon as we got our baby emergency fund in place our furnace went out, then we replaced my husbands car. All cash flowed though
Attitude is everything, you're definitely not expired and I am betting and planning that the best years of my life are still ahead of me. Keep up your attitude that these years are going to rock!!
Thanks for coming out of lurker mode to join in. I tend to lurk more than I post that's for sure.
I've never been a big birthday party girl but for my 20th I had about 23 friends squished hip to hip in my small house. It was great fun even though I was nervous because I have a lot of friends in singletons or couples who don't know each other.
Ironically I got a hangover from a big martini (or two) from having a fancy dinner with my parents, NOT the party
