Pooky

So whose name will Pocket Pooks take!?!? Does MIL still not know you didn't change your name? Would she flip her shiit and be extra impossible if she knew? I think you should make Mr. Pooks take your name LOL! MIL would love that! ;)

Re: Pooky

  • LOL. Can I just say that my BIL threw a fit when he saw Xander's name tag for the nursery say "Baby Brown-Whitworth". He went off about it for a good 10 minutes before Andrew told him to shut up or get out.

  • Well I told dh that when we started having kids I would entertain hyphenating, the more I thought about it the more I decided I would. That being said they will for sure still have a $hit fit and I will probably tell them off, and just throw in that everyone else knows but them.

*Dana* I totally remember your story and think about it often.

It is one of the many things that give me anxiety I am just not willing to give up my name, hyphenating might be a pain in the a$$ but I don't care I am not dropping it or making it my middle name.

  • Oh duh, the baby will have dh's name. I mean I guess I do have my dad's name and all......

    Stick out tongue

LOL!  That's what I figured but I must admit I did giggle a little bit at the thought of your MIL finding out you haven't already changed your name ;)

No you are so right, they will. Sometimes they pick up our church envelopes and mine are in my 'maiden' name. FIL said something recently but I ignored him since they had other guests at their house.

First off- Amen Sista! I honestly don't know why so many people just assume you will give up your last name, that is a part of your life and to me part of who I am.

Legally I never changed my name to reflect the hyphenation. I did change it with work so all my work info and insurance cards show it. I half thought about for our 2nd anniversary having it legally changed to reflect the hyphenation, but the thought of the paperwork seemed like a PITA.

How was your dh with it? I have to admit even though mine knew it before proposing he is so happy that I am adding his. I am slightly  annoyed by it because I know he only feels that way because of other people making remarks otherwise I really think he forgets most of the time. We'll see how much his tune changes if we have a daughter that wants to keep his one day..

  • Andrew actually recommended me not legally changing my name to reflect the hyphenation. He read a few horror stories about places giving women a hard time about having to redo all their cc, license, ss card, and with that he said just keep your name the way it is for your sanity! Andrew also said its not like I asked him to take my last name, so why should he assume or ask me to take his.
