Cleaning steam mop pads

I love my steam mop for my hardwood floors, but I can't seem to get the pads clean in the washer. I'm following the washing directions but they keep coming out with stuff still stuck to them. Any ideas?

Re: Cleaning steam mop pads

  • Little tiny lint balls?

If so, it just happens unless you wash them separately. If you put them in the dryer, letting them air dry would probably help a little, but they do seem to be inevitable.

I've since kicked my steam mop to the curb, but when it was still in residence at my house I couldn't find a cure for the lint balls... I can't justify washing a few mop pads in a completely separate wash load.

  • Wash them in a mesh-y lingere bag. I have one just for steam mop pads.

  • I hand wash mine in the sink with soap and water and let air dry. I've never had any problems with lint balls.
  • I throw mine in the wash in their own load and air dry them per the instructions on the tag. I've had my steam mop for at least 4 years and I don't have any lint ball issues.
  • I wash them in a separate load without any other cleaning rags and then hang them to dry.
