  • Pretty general questions so I need a bit more info so I can answer.

    Where are you staying?

How long do you plan on being there?

  • nicole, we are staying at the bay tower contemporary something or other. its in disney.  7 days (holy sh!t). we have park passes for 4 or 5 days. we booked hoop de doo, breakfast w princess, and chef mickey. we might take mila to the belle dinner in epcot because i think she would  love it.

what time should i plan on getting to the park? how many days for magic kingdom? what other one is good for their age- sea world? mgm?

we do not have a meal plan, but have a full kitchen in our hotel. but still a few good (kid friendly) restaurants would be nice to know.

any rides or  things i should not waste my time with- that might look like a good idea? or anything that is something we should def do while there?

    or any other advice? :)

oh and thanks angela , ill talk to you tomorrow!

  • umm take me with you!!

Sorry no advice to give but wanted to say have a great time!

  • I have never gone to Disney with children so keep in mind that I don't have that perspective.

That is awesome you are staying at the Bay Tower Contemporary Resort. They were just building it the last time I went to Disney. It is also really close to the Magic Kingdom which will be nice.

I went this time of year once and it wasn't that busy so I wouldn't worry too much about when you get to the parks. Play it by ear. Even as adults we had some days that we wanted to get up early and go and then there were others when we took our time.

I hate Animal Kingdom. Some people love it but it is not for me. I thought it was crowded and I hardly saw any animals. I would rather go to Roger Williams to be honest. They do have a few kid appropriate rides/shows though.

As for MGM and Epcot, I think they both have some attractions for children they're just not geared to them the same way Magic Kingdom is. Off the top of my head, I know MGM has the Muppets 3D show and a Toy Story Ride. Epcot has Figment and Finding Nemo. So, you may want to check them out but you wouldn't need all day.

Oh, and see Fantasmic at MGM. That was one of my favorite things the last time we went.

Wow, sorry this got so long. Have fun!

  • I'm not big for sit down dinners/lunch in the parks.  I don't like to take the time away from the day.  I'm not any help there.  the last couple of times that we went we brought in lunch and had a snack later in the day and left and stopped for dinner on the way back to our hotel. Breakfast was always in the hotel with the exception of  our character breakfast day.

Ship a few of the girl's favorite toys/snacks/sippy cups down before you go. They will hold them for you and bring them to your room.

Also if your girls have sensitive ears and don't like the noise associated with fireworks you may want to buy them noise canceling ear phones before you go.  My mom bought ella's on line.

Take advantage of the extra magic hours. They can really help you see everything.

MK - try to get their before they open so you can see the opening ceremonies, go down to where the fairies are and try to let Mila "wake them" by sprinkling fairy dust.  My sister knows more about this.  I suggest pretty much everything in there.  The kids may not like The Haunted Mansion and they  may be too small for Space Mountain and Splash Mountain but everything else is a lot of fun.  The Buzz Lightyear ride is great.  Try to see the shows at the castle.

AK - We were rained out for over an hour so didn't get to see too much. The safari ride is fun and they say to go first thing in the morning.  I can't wait to go back there and see what we missed.  We missed a whole side.

DHS - Plan your day when Fantasmic is playing.  You can check the calendar in disneyworld.com to see when.  You need to arrive there at least an hour before it starts.  If your children aren't into 3D, skip the Toy Story ride.  The line isn't worth it.

Epcot - Soarin is amazing. It is in The Land and Living with the Land is a really cool ride too.  Nemo and Friends, Journey into the Imagination, Spaceship Earth. Mila can go to each country and get a project and find the Kidcot station at the the next and work on her project.  They will write her name in Japanese, Chinese, Arabic....it's really cool.  Isla can do it too.

I spent a lot of time on the mom panel boards on disneyworld.com for advice too.

Take some time in Downtown Disney.  They have a train and carousel and good shopping.

  • If you want to ride the new Toy Story Mania ride at Hollywood Studios, have someone go right as the park opens to get fast passes, or have everyone go right when it opens to wait in line.  When we were there in November, it sold out of fast passes in a very short window each day and the wait was typically 2 hours plus.  We went when the park first opened and waited in line 20 minutes.

We didn't find that the rooms were baby proofed well, so we brought along painters tape to cover the outlets with (we were in Beach Club).

If you rent a car, go grocery shopping off property to save a ton of $.

I believe Star Tours is closed for refurbishment still.
