wedding extras?

What did you girls do with all the left over wedding stuff you had? I've got the bottom 2 shelf's of hall closet with things and then some other stuff from the wedding in my guest room closet that I'm not sure what to do with...and suggestions?

Re: wedding extras?

  • I put stuff up on craigslist and on my college message board.  I was able to unload a few things (DIY photobooth stuff, overlays, lights, and some odds and ends decor), but I still have most of it :(  150 square app plates, vases, cupcake stands, the aisle, the undercloths.... ugh.  Right now most of it is living under the stairway to the third floor.
  • The venue we used for the reception offered to buy all of our center pieces, but they really low-balled it. So I told them we'd keep it. She offered $200 for over $1500 worth of stuff. Even though it's used, I think I can get more by having a garage sale this spring. I also plan on getting rid of a bunch of clothes and kitchen stuff.

  • We are donating some of the stuff (we did eclectic table settings from Goodwill and such) and I have a couple of friends/family members getting married that want to use some of it. Not going to make any money back but should get some of it out of storage.

  • What we didn't keep either got the heeve ho or is getting sold at a yard sale in the spring.
  • It is sitting in my closet...some stuff I sold...extra porgrams, veil, and random other things.  However, I am having a hard time with the prospect of just tossing some of it but I would love my closet back.  Maybe a yard sale is a good idea

  • Ooh I like the idea of a yard sale in the spring. Right now everything is in boxes in the basement. We have vases coming out of our eyeballs so I have no idea what the heck to do with them all.

  • we're gonna tile our coffee table with our leftover glass favor coasters and some photo coasters we got as wedding gifts :) i kept half the program as mementos, and everythign else? was either personalized and in our hutch, or was taken home by guests :)

  • We didn't have much to get rid of. The flower girl took her dress and basket full of leaves, the ring bearer kept his tux and pillow. We threw away the aisle runner. Our centerpieces went to just about every adult female in the family (both his and my sides), as many of them thought it would be cool to keep a momento of the wedding. I'm not sure what to do with the pew end decorations. We're keeping our toasting flutes and cake topper, although those are currently staying at mom and dad's because of the lack of space over here (if I get to post pics on the digs things, you'll see what I mean). I don't think we had much else.
  • The stuff we had left I donated to goodwill.  I am like the anti-hoarder and I can't stand having stuff in the house we aren't using so it wasn't around for long.

This may sound like a crazy suggestion, but if you know anyone who is involved in high school prom, they might take some of your stuff.  I am the prom advisor and I am looking to make centerpieces that use vases this year and I know we don't have many in storage.  I think just putting a request out to our junior class parents may do the trick.  People often offer me leftovers from their weddings, but in previous years the offers haven't matched up with the theme.

  • My town is having a yard sale in May. Whatever I don't get rid of then will go to Out of the Closet/Goodwill.

  • I didn't have much left over... All of the centerpieces either broke or were taken home by guests. I didn't use an aisle runner because the cobblestone ground was so pretty just how it was. The left over ribbon and paints I will use again. The only thing in surplus were the bubbles and programs because almost no one took them, and I had extra bubbles that SIL gave me from her wedding that I forgot about when I got them for mine. There were like 100 bubbles. I threw them all out eek lol

    Our Photo Book!
    Anniversary
  • Our guestbook, photobook, my bouquet, his bout, our cake topper, and the leftover programs are currently on the bottom shelf of my china cabinet, waiting for the display case that Keith is supposed to build.  :-)

The rest of the stuff has mostly gone away.  The milk glass vases were given to friends and family and whoever wanted one.  The flowers were all donated to a nursing home the next day.  And most of the mason jars have been given away too.

  • We left our table runners with his aunt and uncle who own the restaurant where we were married. Also gave them bows to match and some white ones. We either left the aisle runner or threw it away.

Gave bubble favors out at halloween to the younger trick-or-treaters but still have some left. The other favors - Jordan Almond Flowers we took out the almonds and I am keeping them to use instead of bows on future presents.

Kept the dog ring bearer pillow and plan to loan that to a co-worker. Kept dress and veil. The shoes I have worn again. The "unity candle" was an antique candelabra we keep on the dining table. Flutes for toasting are silver and in the hutch where they were before we got married. Cake knife and server are in my silver pattern so in my silverware box.

Vases are in the attic I think. Will probably use them for future parties. Extra unused things (full ribbon rolls, etc.) I returned to hobby lobby. Have some left over program paper and need to do a few announcements for overseas friends.
