If youve seen a DR about low sex drive

I see many people suggest going to the OBGYN to speak with them about solutions or road blocks to a healthy libido. I was wondering if any one had been to thier dr about this problem. What test did your Dr do, and what insight did they give you?

Re: If youve seen a DR about low sex drive

  • For me, PCOS was the cause. Symptoms of PCOS vary widely, and some women with PCOS have high sex drives (I'm guessing those women with higher testosterone levels) but I have PCOS with estrogen dominance and my drive was in the toilet before I started successfully treating it.

Anything hormonal will do it. Thyroid issues are another culprit.

Why I always suggest a complete physical when somebody says she or her H has a low or no sex drive.

  • An ObGyn can also recommend another form of birth control that might not interfere with sex drive.  Also, since depression can affect it, a doctor can talk to the patient and suggest a therapist for them to speak with.
  • She did a vaginal ultrasound to check for cysts and/or anything abnormal. That was clear and she ordered for a few more things to be checked during my normal pap, such as infections or other imbalances, and gave me a preventative Rx in case something showed up later in the results (nothing showed up). Finally, she changed my BCP to one with a lower estrogen level, which did the trick. I have only been on the new one for 1.5 months now, but within 1 week or so I felt a huge difference. If the change in BCP didn't do the trick we would continue more testing to check thyroid and such, but that wasn't necessary. Hope that helps!
