Moms come in, please!

Am I crazy for thinking that we're not really going to need a pack n play? Is it something you would strongly recommend?

I just can't think of when we would use it. The only thing I can think of is to put the baby in it while I run upstairs a potty quickly, but other than that.....

My overly happy baby girl!

Re: Moms come in, please!

  • We used it for Dunc when he first came home to sleep in our room for about a month before we transitioned to the crib. Other than that we have used it once on an overnight and he slept in it. If you want to get one... try for a gift or buy one used-- and get a very basic model--you do NOT need all the fancy expensive stuff.

  • We used it a lot the first week Xander was home, but after that he wouldn't nap in it for me at all. The most use I got out of it was storing extra burp cloths in it and when we went on vacation.

  • Jacob slept in it in our room for the first month or more (I can't remember how long). Now we use it for traveling, and sometimes Thom puts Jacob in it when he's in his man cave, which isn't babyproofed. FWIW, we never used the changing station more than a handful of times, the mobile was a waste of $$ and so were the soothing light/sound features. If I did it over again, I'd just get a basic one. But I would DEFINITELY still get one, given the number of times we've traveled with him.
  • Traveling is a good point, I didn't even think about what she would sleep in for a sleep over at a grandparents house. *sigh* yet another thing to research, haha.

    Thanks so much ladies!

  • I will say this, I will put it up again with the second baby. We will be in a house by then and if we have two floors the bedrooms would be on the second. Xander naps in one every day at daycare since he started there.

  • My sister used hers all the time for both kids.  She didn't use any of the fancy gadgets.

  • I'd get it for traveling as well. If you don't want to get the big one(we have both), but they also have the travel lite pack and play/crib, that's really nice and light.

  • My brother and sister in law used it for their little one when I was there back in August. It was nice because they had a multi level townhouse and it was somewhere to put him in the living room when he napped, or needed his diaper changed, or even somewhere to put him down so I could run to the other room.

  • I think its a must for us but definitely think a basic is fine. we got one for my moms house too and it was only $70 bucks.

  • Right now she sleeps in it in our room and we use it when we visit the grandparents, which is pretty often.  I put her in it to play while I shower and once she's mobile will probably use it outdoors while doing yard work or at the beach.  I think it's great personally!  We got the Joovy Room 2 which I think is bigger than a Graco PnP because I wanted to be able to use it for play, etc as she got older.

  • we have one but havent used it yet.  We do use our co-sleeper though.  I am sure the pack and play will come in handy when we travel to NY.
  • we bought one for traveling, to use at my mom's, etc... it's actually HUGE (it's the graco one with the changing thing & bassinet) and my mom went out and bought a mini one because it's redonk how big it is.

we live in a ranch so we have no use for it on a daily basis (and unless james brings her into his man cave, she won't be going in the basement).

if you have 2 levels, i say go for it.
