deployment homecoming

when DH came home from his when we were in Florida, it was a big "to do" - all the deployers came in on the same plane and we all got to wait and watch it fly in while waiting in the airplane hangar...then they rolled out the red carpet and hundreds of military members come walking down and then is the fun task of "finding your man"!! it was such a special memory, i loved every minute of it and still love thinking about it.

one of my very best friends here on Guam has been husband-less for the past 7 months as he was deployed. she & i got super close b/c she had a lot of free time - she's from TX too, so of course that makes us instant friends anyways ;)

last night her husband came home from his deployment. they dont do big deployment homecomings here b/c they dont have the huge rotators like they do flying to the states. so, we just went to the airport to pick him up. it was so exciting though b/c the people would come out individually after passing thru customs and you couldnt see thru the sliding doors so every time it would open, we'd think it was him and our hearts kept fluttering. when he did come thru those doors, i was just boohooing away in excitement for them (which makes me laugh to myself b/c i didnt even cry when DH came home - probably too much excitement!) and it was so special for them to have their moment. the people in the airport were clapping and cheering and i'm so humbled and happy that she asked me to share in their special moment (mostly to take pictures for them ;)).

remember to hug and kiss your husband tonight and be glad they're sleeping in the bed next to you. while the life of a military spouse is rewarding and blessed, the "luxury" of being next to hubby every night isnt always available.
