Re: What are you reading?

  • I'm reading Saving CeeCee Honeycutt by Beth Hoffman. It was described as "Steel Magnolias meets The Help" which seems pretty accurate so far. I'd add in The Secret Life of Bees to that description as well :) It's our January pick for book club and I'm really liking it!
  • I feel like I haven't read in forever! Ha, well I guess I really haven't. I just moved here from San Antonio in November, so I've been trying to get situated to my new job and explore the area (and the holidays and whatnot). But before the move I started reading The Girl... series. I'm on the second one The Girl Who Played With Fire. I pick it up and read occasionally..but I really need to get back into them.
  • I'm in the middle of the Sookie Stackhouse books.  ooooh they're good!  They are usually checked out at the library, so while I'm waiting on my next one to get in, I'm about to start reading the Help since everyone talks about it.
  • Oh and I also just finished reading Room.  Did anyone else read this?  It took all I could to finish it and not throw it against a wall.  It's written through the eyes of a 5 year old and it's a little disturbing.  Everyone I know that read it really liked it, but I still can't decide if I did or not.

I have the whole series except for one book somewhere in the middle, everytime I think about picking it up I forget which one it is. I'm excited for the newest book in May. Which book are you on? Let me know if you want to borrow some of the books, I work in the Elmwood area.

  • I haven't read that, but I have to say, I felt the same way about Eat, Pray, Love. Everyone was raving about it...so I just HAD to read it. But I didn't really like it. It was slow and not that exciting to me. Didn't hold my attention. And I heard the movie was worse :(

I also own the entire Sookie Stackhouse series. Got a little burnt out on it tho and stopped reading them midway through the series. I want to finish them after my Girl books.

  • I wasn't a fan of Eat Pray Love either.  I only got about half way through Pray and I was bored to tears.

I love the Sookie ones though.  I'm on Dead as a Doornail which I think is the 5th book (?).  But I also loooooove True Blood.  My in-laws are in Philly and NYC and until they came to our wedding, I think they really believed we lived in a Bon Temps type area. hahaha.  (Don't even get me started on when they saw Treme).  The library usually gets the books pretty quick but thank you for the offer!!!

  • Linz - I just finished The Girl Who Played with Fire. I liked how it moved much faster than Dragon Tattoo.
  • Her Fearful Symmetry, by Audrey Niffenegger.  Same author who wrote The Time Traveler's Wife.  I loved TTW.  So far this had been interesting.  Not what I expected, but interesting.  I haven't gotten very far in yet (it's hard with a toddler!!).

I also hated Eat Pray Love.  The eat part was ok, but once I got about five pages into pray - I was bored to death.  Not to mention I really hated the author's attitude.  She was so damn whiney.
