**MM**f/u double stroller
I don't know? Do you have one? Getting one? I don't even know where to start. I heard all about the BOB's but damn they are pricey.
My current jogging stroller I got at a yard sale for $60, and its got alignment issues so I don't mind trading it in
Re: **MM**f/u double stroller
I managed to get a City Select on sale from Right Start for a little over $500. It's a lot of money, I know, but the ILs paid for it as a very very generous Christmas gift. Even if they hadn't, I would've bought it anyway. I use my stroller like some people use their car; we walk for miles and miles. I need a good one that maneuvers well and isn't too heavy. I also really wanted a tandem rather than a side-by-side, because I feel like I'm always trying to navigate through narrow spaces. I test drove the new Britax, the Phil & Ted, my sister's Uppa Baby, and the City Select. The City was the winner for me. The Britax drove a little easier, but Owen cried in the second seat, and I had no place to hang my diaper bag. I like that the City has "stadium" seating, so that both kids can see what's going on (unlike the P&T and the Britax, where they look at the back of the other kid's seat).
That said, if you don't walk a ton, you may not need to go so hard core. A lot of moms on the "Two under 2" board like the Kolcraft Contours. I was put off by its weight (50 lb.), but maybe give it a test drive? I'm pretty sure they have it at BRU or Toys R Us.
::butting in,sorry:: I have had four different double strollers, and while sometimes the side by sides are a pain in the butt getting in and out of places... they have been my favorite.. I have a Chicco Trevi Twin, which I loved, but now its getting a little wonky and a Baby Jogger which I liked but didn't love...
for back to fronts I had the Graco Duoglider and Graco Quattro Tour Duo... I liked them, but they were heavy and it wasn't any easier getting around in them because they are so long... and the boys didn't really enjoy sitting in the back, plus only the back reclined fully so only one could get comfy to sleep if we were out for an all day adventure that required stroller sleeping....
I would also recommend a jogger type, I have found that the non-jogger double strollers have really crappy wheels, but they are also bigger when you fold them down and ease of fold is essential... my Quattro was the easiest to fold, but also the heaviest (and is in the storage shed if you want to test it out to see what it feels like...)
Thanks! Both of you. Whew, I'm overwhelmed! My big thing is that I use my jogger to actually jog. My current one sucks and gives me more of a workout then I want due to the alignment issue.
My other is that I walk the beach a LOT, I take the dog and the baby and we walk the beach. A jogger is an absolute must for this. My other strollers get stuck in the sand.
My regular strollers: I have one that the infant seat clips in and a really expensive, super nice one that I was given. I don't know that I'll try to even get a regular double stroller and I'll just go for the big double one. I worry about the side by sides because of their width, but I know Luke would be miserable staring into the back of his brother's seat...
Hmmm, gonna have to check some out and save some $$. I was fooling myself thinking I wouldn't have to spend $$$ on this kid.
That must be the difference between tooling around Boston and tolling around Maine. I often run into places in my single stroller where we don't fit or just barely fit (downtown TJs, my Target's kid section, the doors of the downtown Macy's, some areas of sidewalk in my neighborhood, some bathrooms, etc.) If I went any wider, I'd be screwed. I often think while walking around Boston, that if I was in a wheelchair I'd be angry all the time at everyone. And I'd probably be very litigious.
If you think that you can manage with a side-by-side, check out the Bob for jogging. People SWEAR by their Bobs (several nesties on here included, I believe...maybe Heather, Sarah, and MIT?), and the clerk at Magic Beans told us that the double Bob Revolution maneuvers better than any double stroller he's ever sold. On the plus side, you can also still put an infant carseat into it. Maybe to save cash you could sell your current expensive/nice stroller? A lot of them have pretty decent resale value on craigslist and ebay.
