DH is sick :(

Poor hubby is sick, has a fever, cold chills, and throwing up :( We don't know if it is something he ate or more like the flu. We both had subway for lunch, but different kinds of meat, cheese, & toppings. I was feeling fine until now. But I think I am feeling bad because he is sick and there isn't much I can do to help him. He took some meds and went to bed. I probably won't be able to sleep because I want to make sure he is ok.

What are some things you do for you husband when he is sick?

Re: DH is sick :(

  • Give him space and check on him every now and again.  I also go buy lysol and spray down everything he touches.  =)
  • Haha, lysol is my best friend right now.

I stayed up all night on the couch, listening for him if he called for me to get him something and checked on him a lot. He seems to be doing better so far this morning. He has been drinking lots of water and I gave him some crackers to eat if he was up to it.

Poor guy, I just feel so bad for him.

  • Poor Guy! I hope he feels better. I second the lysol and lysol wipes!!! If you go out you can get some Pedyalite (sp?) its kind of for kids but its for when they are sick and it has no sugar but tastes good and replaces electrolytes (like Gatorade but better cause the sugar can make the sick person feel worse) Maybe some Ginger ale or tea?
  • Thanks. He ended up going to the Urgent care center today since he still wasn't keeping anything down and was shivering so much. They diagnosed it as the stomach flu, gave him a prescription for a nausea med and he is back home now. They said it could be 2 to 3 days before he's better and will have to wait 24 hours after symptoms have stopped before he goes back to work.

He is resting/sleeping now. I am happy that he can finally have some relief and get some rest (I hope).

  • I tell DH to suck it up!

No really, I try to take care of him as much as I can but we are pretty independent when it comes to our colds.

I firmly believe in taking Airborne so I don't catch whatever he has!

  • Mel, I never thought of taking Airborne. Thanks. I will have to make sure I pick some up.

  • Jeff is so annoying when he is sick (heartless, but true). I try to help him and offer to do stuff for him, but everything is 'No, I don't want that" but then complains. Either let me help you, be a big boy and go to the doctor or take meds, or stop whining! He is just such a stubbornass, I eventually get to the point that I just go upstairs and tell him to deal with it on his own..hahaha...I'm a bad person.
