I feel bad for Bristol Palin

I've seen a lot of shots of Sarah Palin out on the campaign trail. I understand why Bristol isn't out on the campaign trail - at this point, she probably isn't supposed to travel, and even before that, she didn't make for a good photo op. But I usually see Todd, Willow, and Piper in the background at all these stump speeches. (I still don't understand why the girls aren't in school, but that's a completely separate issue.) So Bristol is at home in Alaska, 18 years old and pregnant, while her older brother is in Iraq and her parents and other siblings are traversing the country.

Being a pregnant teen has got to be hard. Being a pregnant teen while your mom is traveling has got to be harder. But with your entire family gone, too? According to one story I read, Levi is working on the north slope, so presumably he's not even around. I just feel bad for Bristol because while it might have seemed at first blush that she had a supportive family, it now seems like she's going through a lot of this alone. Sad.

Re: I feel bad for Bristol Palin

  • She'll have a great deal more family support after November 4.
  • Yeah, I love that Palin likes to whore her children out at their expense...Obama, as a presidential candidate, keeps his kids mostly at home, going to school. Why should a VP candidate's kids be pulled out and schlepped all over the country? To make their mom look good. It's sad. I do feel kinda bad for Bristol.

IIOY is right though, it's just temporary.

  • You don't know that. When I was 18, I was in my own apartment and working full-time. And I would have loved to be on the campaign trail. Maybe she is thrilled.

    Don't project.

  • If I am Bristol Palin, I am probably glad I don't have mom around to give me the side eye every day for being a walking contradiction of her political positions.

  • I thought a lot of her family was in Alaska (aunts, uncles, etc.).  It is just temporary and I would think being around friends and some family would be better than being in the media spotlight.
  • Ditto Marriednow06.
  • Isn't she in her senior year of high school?  She's probably up there finishing, not hiding her pregnancy.  At least, I hope she's up there finishing.  Levi dropped out, so somebody in that couple needs a diploma.

I'm not projecting, and Bristol Palin is NOT out on the campaign trail. That was my point.

I just feel bad for her that her dad and siblings are out there with her mom while she's at home.

  • I feel pretty bad for her, too.  I think she got the shortest end of the stick.

Prediction: if McPalin wins, Bristol is in for a beautiful x-mas wedding at the White House.  If Obama wins, Bristol and Levi will "go their seperate ways" before ever tying the knot.
