Cable vs Internet Tv and Wii?
DH just got a Wii, and Id really like to cut our cable off totally. The only benefit of having it has been the DVR, and we hardly use that these days. We set up Netflix through the Wii, but haven't figured out how to use hulu etc through it. Or even if its possible. Any insite you have on watching shows sans cable would be greatly appreciated.
Re: Cable vs Internet Tv and Wii?
We disconnected our cable 6 months ago. We mostly watch Netflix (through the Wii) for entertainment, but there are a few shows I watch online on Hulu (or the channel's website, i.e. MTV.com for my trashy time with "Teen Mom"). There is an option on the Wii to install something called "Internet Channel". If you go to your Wii home page and click on "Wii Store" (or something like that) you can get the internet channel from there (for free). We couldn't figure out how to make Hulu work on it, though. It kept asking us to install some sort of player and we'd click OK but it just did it over and over again.
We bought a cable from Best Buy to connect our laptop to the TV and we can now watch anything online on our TV. It's pretty great.
I don't miss cable, and the $9/month charge for Netflix is tons better than our $60+/month cable bill.
ETA: CastTV.com is also a great website for getting TV shows off of (like Hulu). We were able to watch "Weeds" last season because of it. Shows post the day after they air usually.
We found another awesome website last night for watching TV shows on. I've been catching up on "Dexter" all day-

Just thought I would pass it along!
Yes! I believe this is illegal... but hypothetically, lol, if we were to be able to watch sports we would be using this website:

I think that's the home page that comes up for members. I am not sure of the original site where you sign up for it at, but maybe it'll come up for you. I believe the fee is like $40 and your membership lasts for 3 YEARS! Last football season, all the UT games were on there and all the pay-per-view UFC fights have been on there too (among other sporting events but these are the ones of interest to my husband).
Ha! DH and I just went to check out that website and all was well until we actually clicked on one of the feeds (we picked cycling) and got a screen with huge DOJ and DHS seals on it stating that the URL has been seized by the U.S. Government for illegal media distribution activity. Oops!
