Ireland

I remember a month or two back a few people on here were considering a trip to Ireland.

Have you made any progress on your research?  Any itineraries, ideas, suggestions?

DH and I are very close to deciding on a trip to Ireland in late March and figured we could all share what we're finding.  I've been going through posts on the Travel board too, but haven't seen anything about Ireland specifically in recent pages.

Re: Ireland

  • I'm not going back to Ireland any time soon, but I'd highly recommend exploring the Dingle peninsula if you have time.  It's a beautiful part of the country, and we really enjoyed it.  We took an archaeological tour that was recommended by Rick Steves in his guidebook (can't remember the name of the company unfortunately), but we got to visit a lot of cool sites that way like the old ring forts and monastery ruins.  If the weather cooperates, they also have sailboat tours to the nearby islands.  The town of Dingle itself is tiny but very quaint.  They have a good farmers market (great cheese! lol) and lace shops, etc.

  • Thanks, Kappa.  We are making our final decision next week.

I'll definitely be looking up all your recommendations above regardless of what we decide.

  • We decided to get our credit card totally paid off before we continue the travel talk.
