  • Ugh. I have too many books on my to-read list.

Currently I'm reading the Outlander series and I'm in the middle of The Hunger Games.

Here's a link to my to-read list on GoodReads.

I just got Dead in the Family (Sookie Stackhouse series) so I will start that after The Hunger Games. I'm awful I start three books so that if I get bored with one, I'll read another for awhile and then go back. I can't put down The Hunger Games though, I don't have the rest in the series, but I'm sure I'll end up with them.

  • I wish I could help, but I'm only reading school books these days.  I'm sure you're not interested...
    No Siggy

  • I just finished the Harry Potter series!  I LOVED it!!!  I could hardly put any of them down...

  • I read the Hunger Games over the holidays.  Its written for the same age group as the Harry Potter series, but I loved the first 2 and am waiting to borrow the 3rd.  Everyone that I work with loves The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo, but I'm having a hard time getting into it.  I'm 170 pages in and my bro in-law says to give it 100 more before I decide to put it down or not....seems odd to take almost 300 pages to get "into it."

Anyway, I loved the Hunger Games.  Easy read but didn't seem like dumb reading.

  • The Help, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, Orange is the New Black, Unbroken.

I'm currently reading Room and it's good.

  • I'm currently reading The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. I'm reading it for book club. It wouldn't be my first choice of reading material, but it's not bad. It's full of reminders of good life lessons and the whole "follow your dreams" stuff.

I just finished The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and it was really good. It DID take a while to get into though. Actually, I started reading it, couldn't get into it, decided to read something else, then saw the movie and picked the book up and it was easier to get into. I'm excited to read the next one.

Next book club book is Look Me in the Eye by John Elder Robison. I'm excited to start that one.

I also love Jodi Picoult and Nora Roberts and Kristin Hannah. They are my "go to" when I can't decide what I want to read.

I've enjoyed the Immortal series by Alyson Noel. The House of Night series by P.C. Cast & Kristin Cast. Of course Harry Potter and Twlight series are must reads.

Some other random books I liked:

Charlie St. Cloud by Ben Sherwood

    The Help by Kathryn Stockett

Hotel on the Corner of Bitter & Sweet by Jamie Ford

Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay

Snow Flower & the Secret Fan by Lisa See

Ten Degrees of Reckoning by Hester Rumberg

Those Who Save Us by Jenna Blum

I just went through my Kindle and that's what I've got. I love to see movies and then read the books. I feel like I understand the movie so much better when I read the book after. All the little details a movie can't capture are in the book. I find I actually enjoy both the movie and the book this way. Otherwise, I'm always disappointed in the movie if I read the book first.

Hope that gives you something to get you going.

  • The last 3 books I've read that really made an impact on me are The Help, Sarah's Key, and Weight of Silence.  All excellent!!  I also recommend Little Bee, and Secret Life of Bees.  (Hmm...a bee theme.)

I am currently reading Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand (who wrote Seabiscuit).  It's about a guy who fought in WWII.  It's really fascinating.  I checked it out from the library onto my Nook.  :-)

I've also recently read a couple of Brad Thor books.  He reminds me a lot of Dan Brown.  They are "thriller" books that will your heart pumping a bit but probably won't win any awards.  :-)

  • I can't believe you guys liked Little Bee.  I must totally be missing something because I despised it.

I just read A World Made By Hand.  It was okay.  I'd give it a 3/5.  I'm currently on an apocalyptic fiction kick and it was satisfying enough.

Favorite so far this year is Room.  Couldn't put it down.

  • I just got a Kindle too and I downloaded some book for our trip last week.  I read Hungry by Crystal Renn and I loved the Jen Lancaster series.  I read Bitter is the New Black and it was pretty funny.  I have Bright Lights Big @ss to read next.  (it's the next book in her series).  I also have the Help to read.  The Art of Racing in the Rain is one of my favorite books as well!
  • Also, if you haven't read the Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns, you should.  I immediately loved the story (even through they are sad storied), and I felt like I learned something factual about the culture.
  • You guys are AMAZING! Thank you, I had been at such a loss for what to read, this helps so much! I have two credits at Audible.com so I want to get two books there, and then maybe buy a couple of the readable versions of maybe 2 other Kindle books from Amazon.... more than enough choices for me, thanks to you gals! :)

Good luck deciding. I always have SUCH a hard time choosing when I get tons of book recommendations. Hence the 5 billion books on my "to read" list. LOL.
