I have to AW DH..and a ?

I was going to warn y'all that this would be long but I assume you know me by now and know that I am long winded.

Clint has been absolutely wonderful the past couple of weeks with the baby. The first month or two while we were still getting the hang of things I was feeling like he expected me to do everything and I just didn't feel like I could. I felt like he was disappointed in me for not coming home to the house clean, dinner made, and baby happy.

After about 2 weeks of me working, we finally worked out a schedule, and he has been especially helpful recently. In the mornings, he watches her while I get ready and then goes out to start my car while I feed her and get her ready, then carries her car seat out to my car so he can kiss us goodbye. When I get home from work, he's either started supper or offers to take the baby so I can start it. He plays with her all the time and even will take her if I don't have anything else to do. He'll change her even if I'm totally capable of doing it. He tells me on a regular basis that I'm a great mom and has thanked me for taking such great care of May.

The last few weeks have been hard sometimes with her being sick every other day for something or another, and then Friday night we entered the four month wakeful stage. He has been doing such a better job of cleaning up after the three of us and not saying anything that would make me feel guilty about it. Saturday night he came downstairs without me asking, took her and told me to go up to bed and he would come get me when she needed to eat, so I got three straight hours of sleep. It was amazing.

I want to do something for him to say thank you, but I'm not sure what. It can't cost a whole lot because we're trying to save money. I plan to get him a card or something and write him a note but I wouldn't mind doing something else. Ideas? He loves cooking, so I don't know if cooking him a meal is the number one thing, and he's trying to watch his weight (not that he needs to), so baking him something delicious is probably out, too.

Also, anyone have any good ideas for Valentine's Day/your anniversary? Both are coming up way too fast.

  • Oh, I am so thrilled to read this! Yay Clint!!!

Is there a particular dinner he really enjoys? Could you make him that?

I forget how far your families are from you- or if you're willing to do a sitter one night. Would you want to have May away for a few hours so you could cook him a nice romantic dinner and maybe pick up something sexy for him..er you...to wear?

  • You go Clint! That's so awesome to hear. :)

I like Jackie's idea. A nice, quiet, romantic night at home may be just the ticket. That's what I'm doing for H when I go visit - his roommate's leaving for the weekend so we can have the place all to ourselves. I just need to go to VS and pick up something sassy...

And I'd just break it and make him a sweet treat. Is there a favorite dessert he has?

  • I like the romantic night at home idea, too.

V-day and anni - we haven't even talked about them. I have no idea what we're doing, but H did get our anni weekend off. Woohoo! Wonder if we can get my parents to keep Nate overnight again...We haven't had a night without him since our last anniversary.

ETA: forgot to congratulate Clint for being so awesome! Such a great dad!

  • I have absolutely NO ideas for you (at least none better than what the ladies posted), but I just wanted to say how awesome that is of Clint - I'm so happy for you!!  I have friends who's kids are 2+ years old and their husbands have yet to take this kind of initiative in their children like this. He definitely deserves a special treat Wink
