Yoga/Pilates classes at Lifetime Fitness?
I'm a member of Lifetime Fitness, and am curious to try the yoga classes. I have never taken a class before, and am wondering which class(es) are good for beginners? I am looking at the LifePower Vinyasa 1 class, but any recommendations would be great.
ETA: Do I need to bring a yoga mat of my own? Any other tips/suggestions?
Re: Yoga/Pilates classes at Lifetime Fitness?
Anything taught by Brenda is going to be a good beginner's class. I've been a beginner for a long time now (ha) and I always liked Brenda's classes. I haven't been in a few months but I assume she's still there. She's in her 50s and very laid back and nice.
They have exercise mats that you can utilize but lots of people bring their own for the cooties factor.

Yep. Same Brenda!
I like the Yoga - Pilates Fusion class on the weekend. I'm not a regular, but I am always comfortable when I go. (I'm veeery inflexible, and I estimate that I modify 10-25% of the class. Some people modify more, some less.) Lifetime used to have a class called Yoga for Athletes, (very different from the current Athletic Yoga), which had a non-traditional cross-training format, and I loooved it. Guys went to it, runners went to it, et cetera. The Yoga - Pilates Fusion is a nice balance, too, though. That said, my purpose of going to the classes is mixing up my usual routine / improving my flexibility / relaxing, so I can't speak to whether or not it is a good base for building an actual ongoing practice. HTH!
...I use their mats, but sometimes I double up their mats to make a cushion more like a Pilates mat
