Cincinnati Nesties
Dear Community,
Our tech team has launched updates to The Nest today. As a result of these updates, members of the Nest Community will need to change their password in order to continue participating in the community. In addition, The Nest community member's avatars will be replaced with generic default avatars. If you wish to revert to your original avatar, you will need to re-upload it via The Nest.
If you have questions about this, please email help@theknot.com.
Thank you.
Note: This only affects The Nest's community members and will not affect members on The Bump or The Knot.
Wondering if anyone volunteers anywhere and if there is a website of places that might need help. I would be interested in animal/environmental volunteering. Habitat for Humanity? Any suggestions/comments are greatly appreciated. Thanks
Re: I want to volunteer
I used to volunteer at the Animal Adoption Foundation (www.aafpets.org). It's a local no-kill shelter out by Rumke. Once you undergo a quick training you can stop in whenever you're free to help by socializing the animals (walking dogs, playing with dogs/cats), helping to adopt them out, cleaning, etc.
For environmental volunteering try Keep Cincinnati Beautiful.

Many shelters/rescues are always looking for foster families. I fostered a golden retriever several years ago. I worked on some basic behavior, took him to be groomed and vetted, stuff like that. The rescue paid for the vet care & grooming, I paid for food but you can often deduct food, travel, etc on your taxes. Plus fostering frees up space so the rescue can get another animal out of a shelter!
That said, call any non-profit that interests you and ask if they need help. I bet they'll say yes!

Excellent group. Only quit because I was having a hard time juggling the obligations of working FT, raising a toddler, and volunteering.
We rescued our dogs through HART Animal Rescue because a family friend volunteered for them. We had a positive experience adopting, and she had a positive experience volunteering. I haven't communicated with them in about a year, but I assume they are still active. GL!
