I'm not sure who is in charge of the NorCal Nest Fb group, but I just requested to join. There wasn't anything where I could put my SN, so hopefully someone accepts me. LOL

Why don't we post here instead of on a FB group? Then this board would be more active (and we wouldn't have exclusivity issues).

I generally do post here, but I figured if there was a group I'd like to join it...just for the extra posts.

I agree. I'm a member of the FB group, but I rarely post there. I feel kind of funny about it, like it's excluding some people. And why post there when we have a dedicated message board right here?

The only benefit of the FB group is that membership can be controlled, and it cuts down on random "lurkers".

The fb group was not started to be exclusive and anyone is welcome to join (so far as I can tell). I think it was started for those fun times when you log on to the nest and it is down for site maintenance. It is not exclusive, nor difficult to join.

I know it was originally set up for times when the board crashed (which was frequent a couple of months ago). It's good to have a back up board of sorts. But I do think a lot of people have stopped their activity here because it is easier to be in one place rather than two. I admit that once I start working again FT in the fall, I will probably only check in there since I will need to scale back my time online. It's too time consuming to be active in both places. I know some people also feel safer posting there because while it is open to all true Nor Cal Nesties, the request format should prevent lurkers. Also your posts are not viewable to your non-Nest FB friends so it is somewhat private in that sense.

I miss when this board was more active.

I use the FB group when I have more personal questions that I'm not really wanting on a public forum that just random anyone can walk into.
