Does anyone know how much $ to tent a house for temites?

We need to tent our house for termites.  it's really bad.  Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had any idea of how much it might cost?  (of course I'll call and find out, I'm just kind of in the planning stages right now).  We have a one story ~1500 sq ft house if that matters.  thanks!

Re: Does anyone know how much $ to tent a house for temites?

  • Just a complete guess since my house is a bit larger (we had it tented in May), but I'd say <1500. Try Antique Termite. They were the cheapest (but still good) of the places we called.
  • It's been 2 years now but I think we paid about $1200 including the inspection and some repair.
  • We did orange oil treaments and it cost double what everybody is saying.  Tongue Tied

Yeah, my dad wants us to do orange oil vs tenting, but I've read mixed reviews about whether or not it works.  did it work in your case?

  • I'm hoping it worked!  I haven't seen any evidence of termites.

We have a townhouse in between other townhomes so tenting would have been a lot more difficult and expensive.  Microwaving was another option, but I worried about what could potentially happen to our stuff.

I liked Planet Orange b/c I thought that with our dog (and our stuff) it would be a safer option.

  • According to paperwork we got in the sale, our 1,400-square-foot house was tented for termites before we bought it. The bill we saw was $4,100. That sounds like a lot more than other people here are quoting though, so I'm wondering if that included something else...

  • We didn't tent but had them drill around the foundation because we had subterranean termites. That was around $2500.

Our house is 1672 and I thought it cost us about $3,000 this past May. We had a couple small repairs.

  • Typically, it seems to be about $3500+ for tenting (I'm a Realtor and read lots of reports). Call a few inspectors and ask for bids or information. Also, pest control co's are highly regulated by the state so you can look into any of them and check into the license etc.

Have you had an inspection? Are you sure it needs to be tented? Most companies will inspect for free or for a reduced cost if you hire them to do the work. For what it's worth, I'd recommend J&M Termite in Mountain View. We've used them for decades.

Hope that helps. Good luck :)

Life is a roller coaster, enjoy it!
