Madame

You found a new apartment? I didn't realize you were looking.. (maybe you didn't mention it here). I did read it on your blog and forgot to ask until you mentioned it below. Tell us about it! How far from where you are now? Was space the issue or something else?

Re: Madame

  • Hi! I didn't mention it here because work has been crazy and our internet's been acting up so I haven't been able to post as much as I normally do.
So right now we live in a 2br duplex which is fine size wise but our landlord is totally awful. We've been trying to stick it out until we can buy something but the last 2 months have just been the final straw. She is one of those slum lords that doesw the absolute minimum when it comes to upkeep so we're left with leaky faucets, holes that are open to the foundation in cupboards (hence the reason our bathroom always smells like mildew- gross!) And the wiring in the house is so old that it no longer supports current internet speeds so our internet is constantly going down and is as slow as dial up.
So basically we decided to look around and ended up finding a great place that's about the same size with a nicer yard for B for the same price. Plus the landlords know my husbands family and are really nice so it always helps to know someone on a personal level. Its another duplex but this one has 8 inches of insulation between the units so you can't hear a peep out of the neighbors.
The biggest bonus is that it has a full sized gas oven as oppossed to my cureent half size electric POS! The house was built in 2006 too so its got dual pane windows, central heat and is really well lit with new fixtures. Such a nice change from our current house!

  • Thanks! I'm sure B will since the new backyard is grass instead of redwood chips!
I've never understood why someone wouldn't want to keep their property up, all you're doing is increasing the value! And you're right, it goes a very long way when your landlord cares for the property, it makes you take better care of it also.
