Slight progress

We had our 40 week appointment this morning and I opted to go ahead and have a check done.  Tad bit uncomfortable, I must say, so if they don't pressure for one next week, I think I'll pass!

Here's the stats:

75% effaced, dilated to a 1 and baby's head is very low.   I haven't really been having contractions, so I'm not surprised.  I think the kiddo knows how cold it is outside and is opting to stay warm and snuggly in my belly Stick out tongue

Re: Slight progress

  • Oh my goodness, 40 weeks! Congratulations! Does it blow your mind to know that in two weeks time you will DEFINITELY have a baby?

Any progress at all is good news and hopefully a sign that you won't have to be induced or that your induction will go easier. I don't blame the baby for wanting to stay warm- you are providing such a great home for him!!!

  • ANY DAY NOW!!!

I'm guessing Thursday. It's my FIL's birthday and 27 is a lucky number in H's family.

Ummm, YES!  As I was pulling out of the parking lot, I had this random thought in my head that o.m.g. baby is coming and I'm not sure I'm ready for it!  I think it's the not knowing when it will happen that is freaking me out more than anything.  Otherwise, I'm super excited to finally get to meet him!

It's so hard to describe....think of a normal pelvic exam, but the examiner going even further in.  It was quick, so not horrible.  Maybe it was because I didn't know what to expect, so the discomfort might not be as bad next time?  I've heard it can also depend on who does the exam, maybe some are gentler than others?

Yes. I had some that were downright painful - a man with big hands and a med student. It's uncomfortable because that area is so sensitive when you're getting ready to have a baby, and they're digging so deep. My OB was very gentle, though.

Yay for progress, Heather! So close!
