Monday QOTD

What's your favorite magazine and why?

Re: Monday QOTD

  • I just read Family Circle for the first time yesterday and I loved it. I'm ordering a subscription. We will now get Cosmo, Self, Lucky (don't know how we started getting that one), Family Circle, Wine Enthusiast and Golf Magazine coming to our house!

ETA: I forgot to put the why. They had a nice variety of articles, from recipes to diet tips to organization tips to educating kids about sex safety, etc. I actually read it cover to cover.

  • Eating Well is by far my favorite magazine. It's like a cooking, health, gardening and fitness magazine all rolled into one.

I also get Organic Gardening, Vegetarian Times and DH gets Sports Illustrated and ESPN. We go through maghound.com

  • I love Glamour, because while it is still just as beauty obsessed as Cosmo, I feel like it is less sex-obsessed and has more of what could be called quality content.

People and Entertainment Weekly, because I only have six tv channels and there is no such thing as too much celebrity gossip.

Parenting and Parents. These have been my favorite magazines since I was ten.

  • I don't read any magazines. If I happen to read one while getting a pedicure or something I usually go for Oprah since it has less fluff and more substance.

  • I usually will pick up anything that catches my eye.  I used to have a magazine obsession, but its gotten a lot better.

My favorite mag though is All You http://www.allyou.com/  I really like it because it has everything in it.  Gossip, recipes, sex stuff, kids stuff, advice. Its the only magazine I can sit and read front to cover in one sitting.  The rest I just browse through and only read a few articles.

  • People?  IDK, I don't really like magazines that much.  I got a subscription to Self and then realized how much I hate it.  Same crap over and over and over.

  • I currently get Fitness, and love most of the fitness-related magazines for new ideas. I refuse to pay for them though, and will just pick up a copy at the doc's office or something to peruse. I got Fitness for free when I bought a workout DVD. I just like reading these because they seem to help me keep on track with exercising regularly and making healthy meals.

I also get Organic Gardening (it's nice to know Organic alternatives to caring for a garden), though it's quite a bit more "organic activist" than I am. It's nice to dream of having a great garden though!

  • I tend to pick one off the shelf every few months or so if something or someone strikes my eye.

I used to subscribe to Allure and I really liked it.  Now, I steal my mom's Southern Livings when she's done with them....I like the recipes and decorating ideas.  I also like that there's often info about upcoming events in our general area.  My mom got me a subscription to Bon appetit for Christmas.  I've only received one so far, but it's neat.  It has more "fancy" recipes....which is why I was inspired to make trying new recipes and techniques my "resolution" this year.

  • Probably Entertainment Weekly. Otherwise I would be behind on my TV whoredom :D
  • Marie Claire.  They have thoughtful articles about real female issues (such as the population crisis in China or female genital mutilation, etc) plus low-key fashion/makeup tips plus celebrity interviews, etc.

I also like US Weekly, perhaps b/c it's all fluff and I just can tale my mind off the real world for a bit.  I subscribe to US and occasionally buy MC.

  • I had a subcription to Cooking Light but never actually made any of the recipes so I did not renew. I occasionally pick up US Weekly or In Touch when I am grocery shopping.

  • I don't really read many magazines.  I'll pick up People sometimes, but mostly because I like doing the crossword puzzle in it.

  • The last magazine subscription I had was Nickelodeon, and I was like 10.  I don't know why, but I've never been a big magazine fan.
  • I don't usually read magazines.  But I do read the Parents magazine because I have like 5 years subscription to it.  LOL

when I travel for work, I pick up People, Us, etc type magazines for the celebrity gossip info.  Just because.

  • Redbook. very geared towards married women.
