Snowshoeing with kids?

Hi! I was thinking it would be fun to go snowshoeing with my friend and her two kids (age 5 and 12). Any recommendations where it's not too hard and inexpensive to rent snowshoes?

Re: Snowshoeing with kids?

  • We have kids snowshoes at my work. The hard thing would be finding a time for you to come down, as we are normally not open on the weekends. I think there is an event this weekend that we will have at least one staff member in the building. If you are interested, send me a PM and I can arrange a time for you to pick up the snowshoes. They cost $5 a pair to rent.  Members are free - so basically you could spend $20 to rent them or pay $25 for a tax-deductible membership. Stick out tongue (I had to plug memberships.)
  • LOL. Do you have snowshoeing at your work? Otherwise it would be kind of a drive . . .
  • yep - we have six pairs for rental I think, plus 2 pairs of kids.  Like I said, normally our Visitor Center isn't open on weekends and I goofed, we don't have an event going on this weekend, so that wouldn't work out.  We do have a snowshoe hike scheduled for the end of Feb if you wanted to go on that.
  • ooh thanks! I'll post about it on my blog. Sounds like fun. I did find a park by us that rents them. We'll try that this weekend.

Thanks! I will probably be getting in touch with you in the next few months. Somehow I ended up on a Food/Art tour for the county I work in. They are organizing one for next fall. I thought you would be a good resources of places to promote it.

  • I think my family goes to Pigeon Creek Park in West Olive.
