So i feel like an idiot, but a couple of weeks ago I took Ben to the ER for what appeared to me to be issues breathing...The idiot, um resident, told me it was just a chest cold and sent us home. I KNEW i should have pushed it more, but i listened to the idiot at the hospital. He didn't clear up, but wasn't getting worse...til last friday.
He wouldn't sleep, he'd wake him self up coughing, started coughing so hard he'd spit up/vomit, running a fever of about 102-103. This morning I took him to pediatrician and she told me she's pretty sure he's got bronchilitis, which is the start of asthma. He got a nebulizer treatment in office, had to go for chest xrays (in a torture chamber thingy), and needs to be on nebulizer treatments every 3 hours. I'm off work til thursday, and I'm a total mess. I feel so bad for the man, and I feel like I need to do something to keep him healthy (I.E Quit working and never leave the house?!)
All the get healthy Ben/stay patient Jess vibes you could spare would be greatly appreciated!
Re: Positive Vibes for Ben.
THe nebulizer is all new to us. He had one treatment this AM at the drs office, and he cried the WHOLE ten minutes, BUT he did sound like he was breathing a little better after.
From someone who has had a treatment, (growing up we thought I had asthma, turned out to be a severe allergy to cats, and I had a cat... duh) But he will get used to it and feel so much better after a few treatments!
Aw, poor guy. Try not to blame yourself, this can happen to anyone. The twins were both in and out of the hospital their first winter because of colds, bronchitis, pneumonia, etc. I hope Ben starts to feel better soon.
ETA: The breathing treatments really are great. They worked wonders for helping the twins be able to breath during their sicknesses as infants.
