It was an interesting interview.
Brokaw asked him what he thought about Rush Limbaugh saying Powell only endorsed Obama because he was black, and McCain just talked about all the generals who endorsed him. I miss Tim Russert, Tim would have made him answer that question.
But the most telling part was when McCain talked about Palin. He didn't make eye contact with Brokaw or the camera, and just stared at the table or darted his eyes around. He kept stumbling over his words and just sounded very, um, Palinesque in his sentences. And all he could really get out in support of her was that she has executive experience and that her husband works a hard job. Seriously. Palin is great because her husband works hard. WTF kind of qualification is that?
But, it ended with a nice bit about McCain's war service. Today's the 41st anniversary of his capture by the Vietnamese. Amazing.
Re: Who watched McCain on Meet the Press this morning?
I found it ironic that he kept saying that he wasn't "defending" Palin; he was "proud" of her. But he kept hammering on that point, rather, erm, defensively.

Just heard him list off her experience by citing Todd Palin's experience as an oil man.

The day that male candidates are reduced to regularly citing their wives' jobs as proof of their qualification for office is the day I will stop being bothered by this.
I saw it. It was sort of painful. This would have been a great time to address some of the issues people have been talking about in terms of his campaign and he was so defensive. These are the kinds of questions you are asked on Meet The Press, so I was surprised how defensive he was.
Everytime Brokaw asked him about a poll, he would say he didn't believe the poll and refused to comment on it. I didn't get it.
