Does anyone know about Medicaid?
I have a PG friend who is on Medicaid and unemployed. She was just offered a job and will be making a little over $300 a week, but doesn't want to take it because she thinks she will lose her benefits and cannot afford all the doctor visits, etc without them. I told her to call and find out but she had trouble getting through and I am afraid she is just going to give up and not take the job. So, does anyone know if she can keep her benefits if she is employed? My older sister said that you cannot lose benefits if you are already pregnant, but I am not sure if this is true.
Re: Does anyone know about Medicaid?
My sister started a new job with really good benefits, before her 60 days were up she found out she was PG. Since she did not have insurance yet they gave her Medicaid for pregnant women. Even after she got her regular insurance they would not cover the pregnancy as it was pre existing. She kept her Medicaid for pregnancy only as her insurance would not cover it.
I have medicaid, now. Pregnancy medicaid will take care of her for everything, not just OB-related stuff. She will be able to keep it for 2 months after her baby is born. Her child will also have 1 year of coverage following birth.
