I have decent coverage at work. My deductible is $500 and I pay $99 a month. This is better than it's been in the past. If I add DH....it jumps to $604 a month...WTH?
So, he's been without insurance forever because he's self employed. I told him he had to get it because he has to get a "swimmer test" done for IF purposes. So, we've been getting quotes and it looks like $145-160 a month for just him with a $1500 deductible is as good as we can get. I freaking hate that it costs so much a month when he literally will NEVER use it unless he's been in an accident or has some major health problem. Irritating!
In other news....swimmer test is on Friday. Wish us luck so we can get this cycle started!

Re: Health insurance is stupid
Oh my gosh. When it was just me on insurance, I didn't pay anything. When I added JJ, I started paying $225 out of pocket every month. If I'd added H, it would've gone up to a good $600. We dropped my insurance after Tricare kicked in, and it's going to save us so much money. Ugh. Why is it so expensive?!?
Keeping fingers crossed for Friday!
It's rediculously expensive! I feel you!
And good luck on the swimmer test!
That's insane, for insurance.
Good luck friday on the test.

H pays $500 a month just for the two of us - its a necessary evil.
Ashley - did you add James to the policy or how will you pay for the swim test ?
The swim test is not covered by insurance anyway so we are paying OOP for it. It's not THAT bad - $135. It's a necessary test and easy (IMO) and is the cheapest test out of any that I may or may not have to do. Swim fish, swim!

Dang! That's expensive!
GL on the swimmer test!
My SIL, who is a teacher, also has health insurance that jumps up to over $600 if she were to add her husband or the boys.
How ridiculous! And GL to the little swimmers!

I hate health insurance. We pay about $200 a month for a $2K deductible plan. It would be double for the better plan with the $500 deductible, but we sure can't afford $400 a month for insurance. I have never in my life paid this much for insurance, and I think it's stupid!
GL to your DH on his swimmer test!
