Anyone have vacation plans coming up?

All I can think about is sun and sand in this freezing weather! We are going on a cruise in May, our first one ever. I am nervous and excited about it. I heard great things but I am such a beach bum on vacation and am worried I won't have enough 'beach time'. But I am super looking forward to food food food!

Who else has vacation plans getting you through the winter?

Re: Anyone have vacation plans coming up?

  • Unfortunately I have no plans, and it's pretty depressing.  I work a job where it's very seasonal (aka, spring and fall busy seasons) so usually I plan a summer vacation to get myself through the spring busy season, but I have nothing planned for this year... which is sad news.
  • We have a couple getaways planned for this year. The first one isn't really an escape from winter though. We're going on a snowmobiling trip in two weeks! I'm super excited for it! It'll be my first time riding my new sled, which is a lot better than the one I had last year, according to DH.

  • Well we have plans for the far off future...at the latest summer 2012. We are saving our vacation leave (two weeks worth) and $$ to take our dream vacation, a luxury cruise in northern Europe. DH's family is Norwegian so we are dying to go to Norway and cruise the fjords and the islands north of Scandinavia where you can see polar bears.

Thinking of that vacation definitely keeps me going when I'm watching my coworkers take leave, and I'm not!

  • I think we're still planning on going on our "official" honeymoon in March (I say "official" because we did go on a "mini" honeymoon right after the wedding to DisneyWorld).  We're planning on going to Hawaii for 10 days...the only problem is the dog.  He's a large and very old dog that can't be boarded.  I don't know if DH is planning on paying for a dog walker (um, cha-ching!) or if he was going to ask a friend of ours....I worry that is too much to ask of her to stay at our house that long.  So, I don't know.  I hope we're going to move forward with the plans because I'm sick of winter!!!
  • We're going on our honeymoon March 5.  Cruise to the Southern Caribbean.

We didn't have enough vacation time to go right after the wedding. We got married in Ohio but live in Colorado, so we spent all our vacation time travelling back and forth to plan the wedding and go to the wedding.

  • It won't be long before the weather in the swamps becomes unbearable again, so we're enjoying the cold as much as possible. We have a some road trips planned in the next few months, one to Lubbock for my sister's 21st, and my bridesmaid Meagan really wants to do Mardi Gras in Galveston, so that's in March. And lots of camping in between before the parks turn into mosquito pits.

I envy all of you who get real winters.

  • We are going away in March but not a sun and sand vacation.  We're renting a Mountain house in Breckenridge with DH's family for a week.  His brother lives in Denver and just landed in the states from a year long tour in Afghanistan TODAY!  He'll be arriving home to his wife and daughter in Denver next week.  We're giving the 3 of them some well deserved time together before going out to see them.

  • Just decided last night to head to Vegas with some friends in April.  There is a big rockabilly car, music and clothing show then and we are excited to go this time with some other people.  I'm not much for vegas but I like the warmth and my mom lives close enough that I'll get to see her too.  Finally finances are coming together and we are starting to see a whole new life together. Woohoo!

  • We're thinking of going somewhere warm in May (depending on how much we get back form taxes).  We will either do a cruise or all-inclusive place.

  • I'm a total beach girl, but so far all we have planned is to go to Alaska in late summer/early fall.  My brother-in-law was transferred to Anchorage for work.  My sister-in-law leaves this weekend to go join him up there.  H is just excited to hunt caribou and...whatever else they have up there :o)

We may also do a little weekend trip somewhere in May for H's 30th birthday. He hasn't decided where he wants to go yet though.

  • Sadly no real vacation.. usually we'd go to six flags or Knottsberry farm for my birthday in summer, but looks like no rollercoasters this summer. I'm hoping we'll be able to ditch out on work and life for about 3 days and just stay in a nice hotel suite instead and order room service and lounge by the pool sipping virgin pina coladas... sounds wonderful to me.

  • I think we are going to head to Sandals Emerlad Bay (Bahamas) over spring break.

VIVA!!!!!!  We had wanted to do VLV this year for our belated honeymoon and it's just not going to work out.  Oh well.  Maybe next year.

We're going to the beach for a week in June.  Dreaming of our beach house is the only thing getting me through some of these cold days, I swear!
