Good South Charlotte/Matthews Area Doctors

We moved here recently and don't really know many ppl in the area, so I thought I'd ask you first.  I'm looking for doctor recommendations.  We live on the Charlotte/Matthews line but will travel for a really good doctor.  We'd rather have good doctors than close ones.

Please recommend a general doc for me and my DH.  He doesn't care the gender but I'd highly prefer a female.  We can each have diff doctors, no big deal.

Any recs for a gyno?  I'd love it if he/she had a good bedside manner...my last one was terrible, didn't listen at all and was rushy!  No fun.

We'll also need to find a pediatrician for our DD who is 10.  All she cares about is that her doc be friendly and not scary.  lol

Bonus question:  How about a dermatologist?  I just want someone who knows what the heck they're talking about.  Not one who just hands me a cream and says "Try this" like my last one.

Re: Good South Charlotte/Matthews Area Doctors

  • I see Dr. Phillips in Huntersville. I randomly went to her when I was sick 2 years ago, and I love her! She's really understanding, and personable. They also do OB visits there too, but I actually drive to the Planned Parenthood in Winston for those appointments.

Here's the link to their office

  • I'm not sure of and general doctors in that area, but I do know of a specialist (should you ever need him). Dr. Charles Ferree, he specializes in Internal Medicine. He's part of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Medical Group, and he is based out of the Pineville office. His daughter used to dance at my studio, and he's helped a few of the dance moms who battled cancer. Hopefully you'll never need his services, but it's always nice to have a reference. Here's the link to his personal page on the CMMG site...

Also, I know you didn't list dentist, but I'd like to recommend a fabulous one. Dr. Daniel W. Turner, DDS. He has taken care of my entire family (4 kids, parents, and now my DH) our entire lives, and he is outstanding. His staff is also extremely sweet and professional. His office is right near South Park Mall. Here's their number and address: 6207 Park South Dr # 102, Charlotte - (704) 553-0008.

Finally, I can recommend an outstanding orthodontist in that area. Dr. Greg Valeriano. His office used to be next to Dr. Turner's many years ago, and I like to think of them as "sister practices". He has also taken care of my entire family (at one point there were FOUR of us in braces at once!) and is very skilled at what he does. His staff is also wonderful, and their office is the coolest one I've ever seen. Here's their website: http://www.valerianoorthodontics.com/

I hope all this helps. Best of luck!

  • Hey!

I've used Dr. Sharrol Barnes for my obgyn for 6 years now.  She is younger, and very honest.  She has helped me with ups and downs of birth control.  She is the Blakeney area/ Rea Rd right off of 485. I can't remember the name of the office at the moment, but just google the name should pop up.

I also recommed Mecklenburg Medical Group. I used Dr. Carmen Teague for many years.  She is in the downtown office, but I always had great experiences.

I live on the coast of NC now and I am going through the same thing, finding all new doctors. :( boo

  • I recently moved here too and went to Meridian Medical group on Raldoph Road in Uptown at the suggestion of one of my coworkers.  They are very nice, and answer any questions I have.  They also are family doctors so they can see you and your children.  I'm still looking for a gyno myself.
  • Wow...those are all wonderful and informative suggestions.  I couldn't be more thankful to all of you!

Also, thanks for all the extras!  We all will need to find a dentist and our daughter will be needing braces within a year or two so those were especially helpful!  I just didn't wanna list them as well for fear of asking y'all for too much.

  • My husband and I live in S. Charlotte and go to Carmel Family Physicians. http://www.carmelfamilyphysicians.org/

They have both male & female doctors, I see Dr. Lauren Hull. We have always had good experiences.  No long waits, clean waiting area, etc.

You did not state you were looking, but I use Eastover OB-GYN. This is at 1025 Morehead Medical Dr [Close to East Blvd]. I see Dr. Elizabeth Moran and love her.  Have very good experiences here.
