OOB Hotel Recommendations?

We're thinking of heading to OOB this summer for a couple days for our first family vacation. DS will only be about a year old by then and I'm looking for a nice, clean place close to the ocean, or on the ocean, that is family friendly and close to downtown. Any recommendations? TIA

Re: OOB Hotel Recommendations?

  • I live 10 minutes from OOB, and can honestly say, I have never stayed there.  My recommendation would be to look go to www.tripadvisor.com and look at their reviews.  Some places may look sketchy, but they turn out to be nice.  I would suggest staying at one of the places that offer cottages, and perhaps go that route.  Otherwise, depending on where the hotel is located, it may be loud and a party like atmosphere.  Good luck.

  • My SIL had her wedding at Joephs by the Sea  and everyone stayed at the Edgewater which was nice, on the ocean and clean. No complaints from anywhere there.

DO NOT STAY AT THE SANDS... We stayed there (its across the street from the edgewater) and the train goes by RIGHT next to it, and the walls shook (this wasn't mentioned anywhere on their website) and when I said something to the front desk, they just said "oh no one has complained before, um yeah sure. and it was just icky. It is a townhouse style place w/ a small kitchen, one bathroom (stand up shower only, not clean and just was gross

  • We got married at Joseph's By The Sea too and was going to recommend a meal there :)  It's a nice place but would be fine for brunch or lunch with a little one.  You can also eat on the patio and play on the grass as you wait.  The Edgewater next door seems nice like pp said.
