Music Confessions

I'm always listening to embarrassing music.  Whether it's Vanilla Ice, Christina Aguilera, or some other lame Top10 song; I can't help myself.

This week I love BEP's The Time.  It makes my day every single time I hear the song.

Also, CeeLo's F***You, unedited.  I am having so much fun downloading different versions, like Anjulie and 50's intro.

So, what are you listening to?  Do you have recs to steer me towards better music?  Or are you right along with me?

Re: Music Confessions

  • I'm no help. I have pretty lowbrow music tastes, but most of mine centers around bad 80s songs: Man in Motion (OMG the hair. So. Very. 80s) and Your Love are the two I'm currently hung up on.

  • so i won't make the nestie gods mad about self promoting my own label (**cough** modernoutsider.com **cough**) i will tell you something that is not on it that i currently like. the new arcade fire is good. :)
  • Thanks for the rec, Chandley.  I have no idea where I would begin to locate good music, so I will for sure check them out, as well as your label.  Congrats on that and good luck!

Note to self... check out modernoutsider.com for good music.

  • Ditto the new Arcade Fire album.

  • I love Katy Perry (Firework and Cali Girls are my favs).  I also love David Guetta.  It's dance music and I love all of his songs.....

Me too!  One of my favorite music "genres" are covers or songs played differently than the original (i.e., acoustic versions).  I have several CDs of acoustic 80's hair band music that I love.

Lately, I've had kid music from Trout Fishing in American in my head.  (BF and I took his niece to see them this weekend.)  Evidently, they have adult music as well.

I am terrible about keeping up with current/new music, so I appreciate this post!

  • DH bought me $115 dollars in iTunes gift cards for Christmas so I could download Season One of Glee. All. The. Music. Besides that, I got the Glee Christmas album for Christmas.

Needless to say, I have not listened to.anything.else since then. Shower = Glee. Car = Glee. Cleaning = Glee. Work = Glee. And I don't skip over the Christmas songs....sad, isn't it?

I totally won a game of Scene It (the eighties version) because of "Man in Motion". Yay for being middle-aged!

  • The new Decemberists album is good too.  It came out last week.  I just bought Lori McKenna's Lorraine (new release today) and haven't gotten to listen to it yet, but I super puffy heart her.

And... I'm really digging that CeeLo song right now, as well as Bruno Mars.  Embarrassed

  • oh, and if you want me to send you a link to DH's 2010 "Best Of" list, I'd be happy to - just post your email addy.  He's a gigantic music snob and puts out a year-end list (it may or may not have a CD that you can download too).

    Yes, please.

    Thanks!

  • arcade fire and two door cinema club (fun, poppy dance music) are my favorites right now. most of my "new" music discoveries were from ACL and talking to the hipsters who work with me.

otherwise, i'm listening to old britney, katy perry and other teen bubblegum pop acceptable for 20-somethings. :-P
