First Valentine's Day as husband/wife..

As I look at the calandar and see that January is coming to a close I'm starting to think of Valentine's day.  Do you have any big plans for your first Valentine's Day as husband and wife??  We are going out for dinner and a movie..a nice date night out.  I'm trying to think of something special to get my H or something special to do that we will look back 10 years from now and remember our first V Day.  Any ideas?

Re: First Valentine's Day as husband/wife..

  • Hm... I guess that I never really thought about it... I am sure it will probably be dinner and a movie or something like that...  And I have been racking my brain on what to get H for Valentines Day... And I come up with nothing... Usually I just end up getting him a video game or something... LOL... I look forward to seeing what you ladies come up with though :)

    Everyday is a miracle. Anniversary
  • This fall I introduced H to a new place in town. It's advertised as a sushi place, but since he doesn't like fish, it also has things like ramen and oriental salads, and, well, he loved it (probably helped that for the two of us with dessert it came out to less then $20). We've been dying to get back, so for V-day, we're going to make a special trip. We're going to see about a movie, but if not, then we might just explore our town a little bit. There's a ton of things neither of us has ever even heard about!

As for a gift... well, there's something that H has wanted for a very long time. It's this awesome mouse specifically for MMO gaming. It's basically what all the professional gamers use. I was poking around online, and found a wholesaler selling them for cheap (ebay, so I could check the refs and use paypal), and it was a special edition one too. Sooo, I bought it, lol. Gonna give him some money and tell him to get me an awesome gift too. Of course, we didn't really do Christmas, so this is kind of an extension =)

BTW, this is the mouse:  http://store.razerzone.com/store/razerusa/en_US/pd/productID.219936100

  • I really wanted to do a swanky night downtown Chicago and unfortunately passed up on this Groupon deal at a nice hotel.  We are also trying to save money like crazy for house so.....might be something like dinner in with Chef Nicole? It will be some sort of event-definitely not a huge gift year!

  • H and I have already discussed it. We decided that we're going out to a nice dinner and who knows, a movie too maybe. And we're getting each other silly cards, because throughout our whole relationship we have gotten each other mushy, love cards and for our first V-day we want to do something different. We also said that we weren't getting each other gifts, since it's our first few months in a new apartment and we need to save as much as possible right now. But I'm getting him some of his favorite candy. :)

Lol, when H and I were living apart and couldn't see each other for 5 months, I sent him these cards every other week with literally like two pages of writing in them. I hope you saved those cards. I know H did, and I can't wait until I have kids so I can show them =)

  • I gave H his first V-day pressie last night - a pizza stone.  He's Italian and we make our own pizza (starting from scratch) every Thursday.  I know, I know I'm way early, but I suck at a secret.  I also got him a subscription to Monday magazine and a book on home improvement.  I think we'll probably go out to eat somewhere relatively nice as we've been eating in every single meal lately.  He's been on a soft foods diet as he recovers from his wisdom teeth and I can't hardly make one more dirty dish to clean up or leftover to put away.
  • H doesn't "do" Valentine's Day...so it's probably going to be just another day in our house.  We did get a gift certificate to the theatre out here for Christmas from my honorary god-parents, so I might try to convince him to go use that.  But that would probably be the most we would do.
  • We have yet to celebrate a Valentine's Day together!!  Last year we were pretty close - we were even in the same state, just opposite sides.  Much better than our standard separate continents!

I just sent Hubby a care package today that included a huge heart shaped box of chocolates - in pink camo!!  (yeah they're gonna give him a hard time about that one!)  I've also sent him 4 cards (becuase I liked them all) and a small album of pictures of me & the dogs.

At the last minute I threw in a replacement wedding ring for him, becuase he's gone & lost weight.  Why is it so easy for guys to lose 20lbs and it takes girls like 5yrs to do the same?!? LOL

  • We've talked about it. H wants it to be really special, but we're tight on money right now, so we will likely do dinner and drinks. We have a favorite sushi place we go to a lot, so we might go there. We wanted to go to this steakhouse we've been trying to get to for over a year, but it's out of our price range.  So we're still unsure. I don't know what to get him either, maybe a book he's been dying to get for a while. V-day is on a Monday so that makes it more complicated!

  • well 2/14 is actually my husband's birthday  :)  so i try to do a little something extra for him. this year he is working so i am going to drive to his workplace and drop off some fresh food, whatever he wants. on 2/11 we are going to see a comedian and go out to a bar together which we haven't done in years, that will be kind of like valentine's day, then on 2/12 we are hanging out with some friends for his bday.

  • I am working on V Day night....and we are super broke so V Day will be celebrated some time later that week with a gift card to Mac Grill that was a wedding gift. But we don't really do V Day ever...I usually end up working. One year we went to Kobe Steakhouse with hubby's mom cause hubby's dad was traveling on business. It just seems to get passed by each year.
