Home decorating question(s)?
I check out the decorating/renovating board every once in awhile and am amazed at how many people take the time to do decorations for every.single.holiday. Someone posted a picture the other day of a Valentine's Day centerpiece and wanted to know what to add to it. Is it just me or does this seem a little much? Maybe those people have a lot more time on their hands? Or maybe they aren't lazy like me and taken down decorations as soon as the holiday is over?
Whatever the answer, I'm always amazed at how much time and attention people put into decorating.

Re: Home decorating question(s)?
In high school one of my friends lived next door to a family that put up christmas lights for every holiday (green for St. Patricks day; red, pink and white for valentines etc.).
I found it a bit loony but to each their own I guess...
I don't decorate for anything which is also kind of lame
I am DEF not a theme-y holiday/seasonal decor gal. I will sometimes make adjustments based on weather/season/trend, and will fancify around Christmas.
I kind of think of it like clothing -- I might rotate in the sweaters and pack away the skirts/dresses according to the season, but I'm not wearing sweatshirts with pumpkins, turkeys, hearts or Easter eggs....

I decorate outside for Halloween (stupid spiderwebs, a wreath and some other stuff), Christmas, St. Patrick's Day, sometimes Valentine's Day and that's pretty much it. But generally I just do a wreath and then I have garden stakes that I put out (I doubt anyone notices them but me anyway).
Last year I wanted to decorate for the 4th of July but I didn't know what to do. Kiz - you've seen our house, it's boring so sometimes I like to put stuff out so our house doesn't just blend in. I decided to plant 150 bulbs this past spring in the front just to see what grows and to hopefully have a not-so-puny flower garden.
Decorate around the inside of the house? Well, that's a different story. I don't. I did for Christmas and that was pretty much it. Sometimes I'll put out a few colored candles, a hand towel or maybe a little figurine but that's it. I never know where to store stuff.
me too.
I don't do centerpieces or anything too big/fancy but I do put up some cute stuff on our mantle or a fun wreath on the door or something.
This for me as well. Especially since I've been on my wreath making kick lately. I've got tons now.
Judging
I usually check out that board for inspiration and am always amazed by the talented people over there. Where they get the time and energy to do all of that is beyond me. I'm thinking maybe a lot of them don't live in cold climates where all I want to do when I get home is crawl under a blanket. Or they're just much more motivated than me.
I always decorate for Christmas, usually Halloween, and Easter. I decorate our cabin for 4th of July since we're usually there for that holiday. It's nice to embrace the seasons and the change, and have something different to look at on the buffet.
