  • Ditto Dani. I was super pissed. Everyone who thinks all gov't workers are paid higher than their counterparts can kiss my butt.

  • I'm recording it so I can play State of the Union bingo with my students tomorrow, but to be honest, I'm not to happy--especially with the teaching part. I know that we are needing more teachers, and I know that there are bad teachers... but to put all teachers in that light... not cool.

Yeah I only caught the local highlights but that is what they showed the most, buuuuut Detroit has just about the worst public school system in the country due in large part to corruption though.

  • Nope we didn't watch it.  I'm so over "he's going to fix the world" when all he's done is make my paycheck less b/c my healthcare costs are up and yet no COLA.  Thank god for my step increase this summer.

Oh no he didn't!  Yes there are issues, but not all teachers are bad teachers.  The elementary school that our kids will go to just got a blue ribbon, so some teachers must be doing something right.

    I hope he doesn't win re-election.

  • Didn't watch it. Rather stick a fork in my eye than watch Obummer

  • I didn't watch it.  I usually change the channel when he comes on - he scares me.  I didn't even watch the news coverage of it this morning.  I really don't think he will be re-elected if he runs again.

I think there was something with the camera's because the Repub that gave the rebuttle had an even worse color.  He really looked off. Worse than Obama.

I enjoyed his speech even though I know that most of it won't happen, or won't help us in the immediate future.  I agreed with some of his points, some I did not.  I think he is trying really hard to get something done this year.  Even if that means he is going to have to make some compromises on what he fully wants. Though some things he isn't going to give in on which is good.   I think the compromise is good because we need to start working across party lines if ANYTHING is going to get done.  There needs to be compromise.  That's something that we really haven't seen in recent years.  All that has happened is one party passes something, then the next admin comes in they repeal what the last one did, and then we start all over again.

I seriously hate the lack of compromise, but for a long time I have hated having two such dominant parties anyway.

yes the polarizing parties, if anything, is going to be the end of our gov. as it was designed by our four fathers.  In fact, George Washington warned us against it in his last address to the courntry as president. Really, if we can't begin to compromise there is never going to be any kind of fix to any of the problems we are having.  Budget, jobs, health care/insurance, welfare, national security, ect.  It's really sad acutally.
