something: and something else.

something: in denver I never once saw a Robin. back home, they were everywhere, so i missed them. here in kansas town, they are out in my front yard RIGHT NOW! so chubby and sweet! fluttering around each other like they think it's spring time!

it's making me happy,

something else: the maintenence guy is supposed to be over to change the furnace filter between 9 and 5 today. he hasn't been here yet, but I saw him acrtoss the street hours ago, and have been waiting to do everything I need to do, so he's not knocking while Im in the shower, getting dressed, in half make up, etc. I just ate lunch because I was withering away! (lol)  It's one thing if they'd knock and go away- but if I don't answer, he'll just come in!

I finally put the children in for a nap, because we need to go to the mall, and I don't want him ringing the bell and waking them up, or alarming the stupid sheepdog, because she's barky lately, and I don't want THAT to wake them, either.

I also don't love the idea of him coming while we're gone, b/c I don't know how the dog will feel about it...

so, in closing:

yay chubby robins, boo furnace maintenence.

Re: something: and something else.

  • I know you are probably in a rental, but I would rather just replace the filter myself.  If he flakes out for much longer, maybe just leave a note on your door saying for him to leave the filter outside and you will do it yourself?

This wouldn't work in my complex. All that stuff is in the locked utility closet.

I thought about this- we are in a rental right now, I think they have to do it so they know it's done...I doubt they'd let me just do it.

on one hand, this is the sh!t I missed about renting (the not doing anything yourself!) but on the other hand...I don't even like people here when they're invited!

    hermit party of one!

  • Fact: Robins are @assholes.  We have one that tries to nest on our house every year.  It insisted on building a nest right next to our front door for 3 years in a row.  Then it would get pissed at us every time we went in or out.  Then it would abandon it's eggs because it couldn't handle being so close to people.  We finally had to put a fake bird(coughrubberduckiecough)on the drain pipe, so it would find a new place to nest.  It's now built nests on every single drain pipe on our house trying to find a new good spot, and abandoned eggs in each nest.

  • That robin is a bad mother! (I said this in my head in a Brian Fellows voice)

Edie, I feel you. There was a period a few months ago where I had maintenance here at least once a week for one thing or another and it sucked a lot. I just wanted to go about my day without the idea that someone could ring the bell ANY MINUTE hanging over my head!

  • Boxer, just admit defeat and put out a birdhouse.

  • I love birdy spring time. I have tons of humming birds in my backyard in the spring and I love the little chubby baby ones.

I need to go buy a wallet, le sigh.  Do you guys know how much I loved my wallet.  I was so cute and no one had anything like it.  It had a special pocket for my boarding pass and one for my expired passport that I just sent in the renewal for.  I just can't bring myself to buy a new one.  I'm in Mourning people!

I, too, am particular about wallets. I feel your pain.
