Salsa Verde Chicken question

I haven't been able to find Salsa Verde anywhere!  Just now I found some, but it was Hot and I don't think that would work for us.  Is a normal jar of salsa ok?

Re: Salsa Verde Chicken question

  • No - you definitely need the salsa verde.  Ortega makes it, it says "medium" for heat but its really not,  and its at stop and shop in the aisle with the tacos.  The only other brand I've seen is Mrs. Renfro's and that one is HOTTTTT.
  • I had to make something for dinner, so I just went with the regular salsa.  It tasted good so far.  The only thing I could find was Mrs. Renfro's.  That's why I didn't bother buying it.  I guess we'll see what DH thinks
  • well, let us know how it comes out.  I can't imagine the taste with the creamy milk mixed with the regular salsa....
  • WAIT WAIT WAIT!!!  I made it with regular salsa last night and it was DA BOMB!  Sooooo good!  It was like a creamy tomato sauce.  In fact, dare I say, I liked it slightly better than the verde!!

  • I think I'm going to make it sans salsa verde.  My thing?  The green coloring just kinda turns me off.  But reg salsa?  I think it's going to be amazeballs :)
